Strangest vet visit ever. My 18yo indoor cat’s vet retired last year, and when the cat got out and was gone for a week, we had to find a new vet fast. This was 3 months ago. My cat had returned home covered in fleas, with a respiratory infection, dehydrated and had lost 1/3 of his body weight. Dr. Walker was on vacation, but the retired vet taking his place was great—gave the cat a treatment for fleas, an antibiotic shot and a couple of other meds, and ran the full battery of tests. Tests showed what was expected—low RBC (fleas), high WBC (fleas and respiratory), kidney function slightly off (dehydration), etc. my cat completely recovered and has gained some of the weight back.
Took him in yesterday for a wound on his ear that had become infected; Dr Walker was there. They took the cat; after a while Dr Walker came in with the cat’s folder. He had just examined my DOG! He began to lecture me about my DOG. My DOG had kidney failure (???), my DOG had fleas, my DOG had “Gram-negative rods—either Pseudonymous or E. coli”. Then he whipped out the file and pointed out numbers from the former visit to prove his points. Then he must have realized it was a cat. He kept throwing around the “Gram-negative rods” like I was supposed to be impressed or terrified until I told him that I was a microbiologist, and that took the wind out of his sails. The diagnosis of kidney failure (without running any tests) was followed by the cat needed to be on a diet of a catfood that I could only get at his office (up selling, anyone?) He had charts to show the kidney failure. He said my other cat needed the special diet, also. He also said that just because I didn’t see adult fleas there would be eggs and nymphs (spontaneous regeneration?). He said the cat needed a flea treatment.

I don't normally leave reviews but I am so offended by Brutus’ story.. I brought my dog Harley in for a routine checkup and abdominal xray as she was having the Hershey squirts for the past week before. We are sitting in the waiting room when all of a sudden this big brolic dog mounts my poor Harley in a fit of rage and lets nature take its course. No help from any of the employees! I have to remove this big horndog from my dear sweet Harley to save her from the horrors that awaited her! But I was too late!! Brutus had already finished the job and now my poor sweet Harley was going to be a mother to his offspring. We ended up bringing her back for the birth of the dogs and I have to say the service was much better this time! Very helpful staff.

Hi everyone, I recently took my albino Belgian Malanois, his name is Brutus the destroyer? anywho, we went in for a normal check up and to get him fixed cause with a name like that just hide all the other dogs in the neighborhood if you know what I mean! And so we got him fixed and they gave him EVEN MORE steroids which is insane considering how you can see his veins already. But hey I’m not complaining legal steroids for my dawg? but staff is super friendly and pricing is just right! Totally recommend!

Reading these, I am both not at all surprised and never impressed by the makeup of this person's being. No need for more negative adjectives. HIs modicum proficiency is made moot by his tiny heart and vacant and greedy little soul.

Took our kitten in to get neutered and second set of shots. Received a call two hours later that he passed away on the table. Dr Walker called us and said they would pay for his cremation and no charges for the services provided at the time. My kitten was only 6 months old. We called 3 days later to see if it's remains had come back from the cremation place and was told by one of his staff members that when they picked up our baby's body they picked up several. What was he going to killing spree that day?

They lie to families to exploit them for any dime they have. I Called and said low income family needed a spay for their dog, and they assured me the exam toClear her was $55. When my husband got there they pressured him for multiple add ons to the exam totaling over $300 (she is in perfect health - provided med records.) he said he declined so many and yet he had to pay $275! Just to get the info that the spay would be another $800. I think it’s a step below just bad customer service!

I really like this place. This place is old school care, you get what your pet needs and skip the pushy sales pitch that the veterinary practitioners push. This place has helped us improve several things with our two dogs health, all while we are actually using less products and medicines than our prior vet said we needed. This guy is really smart. Hope they stay open after their storm damage is fixed.

The doctor was very detailed and made my husband feel very comfortable with our furbaby. The receptionist can learn a little more about how the clinic works

Dr. Walker is amazing. We had a great experience. He was able to work with our overly anxious goldendoodle. Prior to coming to Lakeside the veterinarian offices we'd taken her to was a terrible experience. They would pen her down on the ground with a knee on her neck and hold her feet. She was traumatized. Dr. Walker talked us through every step he was taking and had no issues with her.
