If only you could actually get ahold of the hospital. No one answers the phone. What if I was having a pet emergency seriously. And when you leave a voicemail no one calls you back.

I adopted my first cat almost 4 months ago and knew I would have to get her spayed soon so I booked with AHR. I'm glad I did. They were very understanding of my anxiety and were very communicative through the whole process. I really believe that the Vets take the extra step to make pet parents feel comfortable and to make sure their pet patients are okay. I'm so pleased about my experience here. ps: when I went to pick up my girl from her surgery they offered me beer or wine while I was waiting - that is rad!

Had an emergency, my dog was having a seizure and went here because they had "hospital" ... they turned me aware as my dog was dying in my hands. Went to 4paws down the road, they were amazing. My dog had to be put down unfortunately. DO NOT GO TO THIS PLACE!

We have been bringing our pets here for several years now and because my cats are all older we have needed them more than usual. When I was looking for a vet, I wanted to find one that was knowledgeable about cat physiology and illnesses and found just that at AHR. There is a separate cat entrance which I LOVE and it definitely makes for a more pleasant visit for my cats. The waiting room is calm and they don't have the big ole dogs scaring them. They have always been honest about what my cats were going through and the best treatment for them, even if it wasn't the best for me. Unfortunately fur babies don't live forever and it's very hard when we lose one but I have always felt compassion and caring from all of the staff at AHR. They also offer grief and bereavement support after a loss which is helpful to go through when there is someone else going through the same thing.

The one star is for the veterinarian technician assistants that work hard and know their job. I have tried to be patient with this place but it has ran out, specifically over their lack of customer service and smooth processes. First, the front desk staff is incompetent and poorly trained or just lazy, probably poorly trained due to being lazy. Every time I deal with them for payments or scheduling, it is like talking to a child who doesn't have the common sense skills yet or know how to ask for help. The latest incident is with an older blonde woman on the cat's side that can't figure out their boarding schedule. She had to ask for help on scheduling two kennels separate from each other. Apparently someone scheduled a kennel and so the 2 available were on either side of it and she thought they had to be adjoining. I don't understand why they have her there if she has to ask for help with every question, plus she has been there for a while and is still not knowledgeable enough. Another incident is when they couldn't get their card machine to work for over 15 minutes and I had to wait until everyone in the office tried it figure it out. I had my cats in carriers at the front desk during the whole ordeal trying to take them home. I asked them to get someone knowledgeable and they would just get someone else unable to help. They have no supervision to guide them. Second, the vet techs are not able to draw blood effectively or deal with cats. The vet tech or assist in the attached photo had to draw blood because one other was having so much trouble (she stabbed my cat multiple times and this person got it first try). Lastly, one of my cats is not eating and needed a dental surgery. The front desk was acting like they didn't care to make an appointment. Apparently they have open availability but you have to be on some waiting list and just can't setup a normal appointment for dental surgery. They acted like they can't circumvent their policies for a cat that is slowly dying. It's not like I wanted the first appointment and to make him a priority over all animals! We just needed a concrete time to take him and figure out what is going on after he already visited them and had bloodwork that came back without any issues. The doctor that seen him first shared his bloodwork so we asked them for help twice to get him scheduled. The first time they got someone to talk to me and that was what they said, the second time she setup the appointment for me after I expressed dissatisfaction. But then the staff I talked to previously gave me an attitude and acted like we circumvented their policy. An animal's welfare should take priority over their policies, especially if you are longstanding customer and it doesn't impend other emergency services.

Today is my Boy's Birthday March 17, 2023, Zeke is 16 yr. The reason I'm telling the following story is I hope it will encourage people not to give up on their pet if they become seriously ill. When Zeke was 3 yr. I almost lost him. I noticed he was having trouble breathing. He was taking 14 breaths every 15 seconds (that's 56 breaths every min). Turned out he had gotten a Fungus in his lungs causing Histoplasmosis. The vet. Dr. Kimberly Ann Clary in Rowlett, Tx said it would be a 6-month treatment plan to save him she put him on Itraconazole that he had to take twice a day for up to 6 months. She said most owners just have the animal put down. As long as he was not suffering I was committed to save him. During the early treatment he wouldn't eat and lost a lot of weight. The Vet recommended a feeding tube. I fed him for 5 weeks through the tube (he gained 2 pounds in those 5 weeks). I am so thankful to Dr. Clary and that I decided to give him the chance to live and that has given me 13 more years of a wonderful pet and companion. All I'm trying to do (with this story) is get any pet owner to consider not give up on their pet if they get seriously ill. Please, be committed to save them.

an hour agoNEW Love the groomer! She is amazing with my dogs but on two separate visits I have shown up to get my dogs and I have an enormous bill for services I did not know were going to be performed. That really puts someone in a bad position when not prepared.

I moved to this area recently from Dallas. I have unfortunately had to deal with several pet illnesses since I came here. I feel so very fortunate to have found this clinic and Dr. Clary. They are top notch and I am a very heavy consumer of veterinary services and know what I'm talking about. Everyone associated with the clinic is easy to deal with as well. I would drive from any part of the DFW to come there going forward. It is a 5 star operation all the way.

This veterinary practice is much different than any other I have experienced in all the past I have worked at or visited, in a very positive way. Prior to COVID, we were able to step inside the practice and be with our pets during the exam. They create a very relaxed atmosphere for the pet during the exam process. They dim the lights, play soft music and create an almost spa like atmosphere for the animal to relax. Unfortunately, due to COVID, they only allow the animal in the clinic and restrict owners from coming in. But that it understandable to keep everyone safe. I boarded my 2 cats for a week, with one of my cats being a diabetic. I received calls updating me on my diabetic cat and they went an extra mile of trying to get him to eat during his stay. He is a nervous personality cat and I knew this would be a challenge during his boarding stay. I appreciate the doctors and the boarding staff keeping me updated. Their boarding kennels backs up to the fish tank so the kitties have that as enrichment. They also have daily time with each pet for play and pets. They really go the extra step to make your fur babies feel comfortable. My kitty's vet called me once I got home with him to check on him and update me on what they saw with his diabetic condition. We received good news that he might be cured and asked for glucose values for the next few days to continue to monitor. He is in remission now. I am grateful for their observations and follow call once we were back home. I couldn't ask for a better veterinarian to work with. Thank you all.

AHR is the best! The staff and Dr. are so friendly and take special care of all the patients, our pup mocha recently had a bad tooth fracture and I called and Dr. Hurley was able to see her and get her check her out and schedule to come in for a dental exam and extraction. Dr Carter took such good care and even followed up same day to check up on mocha. This was our full time vet in 2016, glad we came back and will continue to do so! Thanks again The Lackore's, of Rowlett

I am very disappointed with this clinic. I have never been to a vet where they charge an exam fee for a quick follow-up from a previous visit. Dr was only in the room 1 minute to look at the redness on the tooth. Dr just said keep an eye on it and left the room. This was not the first negative experience we have had with the clinic, but it will be the last.
