I would like to start by saying that I am a mother of three girls, who are currently in their teen and pre-teen years. As you may be aware, your store seems to cater to that age group. During a recent visit to Five Below, I felt disgusted by an incident that occurred.
My daughter and I were ready to complete our purchase when an African American associate at the front of the store, assisting with checkout and self-checkout, asked the party in front of us whether they would be paying with cash or card. They responded with cash, and she cheerfully asked them to step forward to the cash register to check them out.
Suddenly, we heard a woman begin to yell and scold the associate. I looked up from my phone at that moment, and the woman continued to shout, "HOW MANY TIMES HAVE I TOLD YOU... DON’T GO UP THERE. I DON’T WANT YOU ANYWHERE NEAR THAT AREA." She repeated these phrases multiple times, as if she were speaking to a child.
Having worked in retail and held a managerial positions, I could never imagine yelling at an associate, especially in front of a number of shoppers. The woman, who had freshly dyed red hair, then stormed off toward the back of the store.
The associate approached me and informed me that I could use the open self-checkout as long as I was paying with a card. I confirmed that I was, and she proceeded to clear out a transaction left by the previous customer. I asked her if the person who spoke to her in that manner was the store manager, she looked frightened and nodded yes. When I asked for the manager's name, the associate hesitated and refused to provide it, likely out of fear of retaliation. I did not press the matter and walked around the store until I located the associate again. She was near the cosmetics area, lollygagging with another associate, a young Hispanic lady. I asked for her name, and she told me it was Farah. I thanked her and walked away.
I never write reviews or reach out to stores to provide feedback, but this crossed a basic line of providing common courtesy to the people working with you. My daughter witnessed this incident and asked why I asked for information. I told her that I know one day she would begin to work, likely in retail while she is in school and I truly hope that someone will speak up for her if she were treated the way this young lady was. Regardless of the position held, no one deserves to be treated the way the young woman was. Aside from that, I fear this "so-called manager" might be treating others this way if not worse. Correctives and guidance should not be provided to associates this way. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions.

The sign says they close at 9:30.
I arrived and the doors were closed and I pointed out to the man in the store the time they have at the entrance and he just said no.
Why don't you respect the damn closing time?
Now I understand why they have bad reviews!!!!!! 👎🏻

Weirdest location. Employee does not allow customers to use self checkout. Stands there and attempts to do an invasive checkout at the self checkout with you. Stared me down as it asked me about quality questions on the register. May be trying to get good reviews by hounding!!! Also did not know how to perform a return?? Firewheel is much better stocked and doesn't have weird employees/policies!

I wanted to take a moment to thank a young man named Alex who was working today when i distractedly left my phone at the checkout. He caught me right on time and handed my phone. He was such a lifesaver as i was running around doing last minute errands getting ready to go out of town. I would never have remembered which store i left it at had it not been for his quick thinking and paying attention to his customers. THANK YOU Alex! This store always has lovely employees but especially today i am so thankful for you!

I really dislike this location. The people who work at this location make it so unpleasant to shop here. Firstly you NEVER KNOW when they are going to close. The site says 9pm but they are always closed before then. The most recent time I was here as soon as I walked in a girl Associate stated they closed in 30mins I walked straight to the back where the phone cases and screen protectors were. And the girl made an announcement that the store was closing in 5mins. I literally had not been in the store a whole minute yet. Then the girl came to the back to advise me the store was about to close and stood there while I was making my selection like I needed to leave now! I will from now on drive to another location. I came in to grab 2 things and spend $10. That was a harassing trash experience. I really could have acted out but did not want to give my children that kind of experience because they were with me.
