My four year old daughter has flourished here over the last year. This school resonates with my child and fosters her independence of the everyday tasks. She asks to help me around the house (cooking, making her own lunch, sweeping, mopping, cleaning mirrors, watering plants, taking care of her dog and fish) At Salado Montessori, they learn through physically getting involved in the activity at hand,(everyday fundamentals like washing hands, getting dressed (my daughter learned to tie her shoes in a day), motor skills like opening and closing boxes and organizing blocks based on size, music (beat, tone, instruments), sounding out words, addition and subtraction, days of the week). She wakes up and gets dressed on her own, brushes her own teeth and takes pride in it all because it gives her a sense of accomplishment. This school is teaching her how to learn, not what to learn.
