Came in with my coworker pretty late, but Jose at the front desk is a character. We loved his sense of humor and his jokes. Good job kind of with suites with Jose it was three in the morning that we checked in and his attitude and willingness to help was on point if I can give 10 stars, I would

Adorable and perfectly located near six flags. I got a room that’s been remodeled. It was handicap accessible. They have free washer and dryers onsite. The staff is nice and professional. There’s a lot of restaurants nearby within walking distance. There’s a little store on the first floor that sells laundry soap and food items or something you might have forgotten like a toothbrush.

I was concerned after reading the other reviews, but I’m glad I chose this place anyway. It was being remodeled when I stayed, but that wasn’t a huge issue. It was clean, and quiet. There was plenty of parking. The kitchenette was nice, and I didn’t see any roaches during my stay. There are also restaurants within walking distance

It's an older hotel with the typical maintenance issues of an older property, but it came at a good value for just a quick overnight. Quiet location.

Avoid this hotel. Dirty rooms, dirty everything. Horrible guests we ran out in the middle of the night to another hotel.
Use this as your last option, if you can sleep in your car, do it.

We stayed the weekend of May 15-16. This was among the worst hotel experiences we've had. I mistakenly booked through Priceline instead of directly through the hotel itself, and I'm wondering if that's partly why our room experience was so bad.
The hotel is pet-friendly and close to our home. We needed to vacate our home for some work to be done in our home.
We were placed in a handicapped room way at the end of the hall on the 4th floor, likely due to our cats. It may have been a very neglected room.
Unfortunately, they don't have free breakfast, just kitchenettes where you have to take care of all your own food. I had to bring cereal and peanut butter for our breakfast.
As soon as we walked in, a very tiny cockroach ran across the desk as we were about to set our stuff down. Ew. Then we saw another one. We had just brought our cats in and let them out. They were already very upset and hiding under the bed, so we were reluctant to move rooms, especially with no guarantee of a roach-free room if we moved.
Later, I saw another little larger roach on a wall. I also saw several really small ones running on the bathroom floor. It happened again late at night when I went to the bathroom and turned on the light. I stomped on a bunch of little ones again. My husband opened the kitchenette cupboard in the morning, and another little larger roach was on the cupboard door.
Besides the roaches, there was no bar of soap for the bathroom sink. They just had large pump bottles of shampoo, body wash, and conditioner in the shower. I was told later we should have had soap.
The toilet paper stand was nasty. It was completely rusted, especially at the base. The screw-on end to keep the toilet paper roll in place was missing. There was no backup roll of toilet paper provided, and we had to ask for one.
We had planned to stay a second night but decided to cut out of there early (we were grossed out). The work was done sooner than expected, and our house was ready for us.
I was told by the gal who checked me out that she was going to not charge us for the second night because of the roaches. I looked later, and it was never refunded, maybe because we went through Priceline, maybe because we *did* stay past checkout time and into the next check-in time? Either way, we were promised something that didn't happen.
On paper, yes, we should have been charged because we stayed past checkout and way past time to cancel. I'm still disppointed, though, that I was promised a refunded night because of the cockroaches and didn't get it.

Everything has been decent with our past stays until recently when a new employee joined the staff here. She is rude, has the most annoying attitude, and seems she thinks or feels she is better than the guest. She goes missing for long periods of time and if you wait for her and if she shows back up she will have an even cockier attitude. Very unresonable

Staff is wonderful and sincere. Everything is very clean and maintained as best it can. But everything is dated and well used. The furniture has stains and is worn in to the point of discomfort. The bed might as well have been a wooden board with a sheet on it. Zero comfort and terrible sleep.

Though the people working were very welcoming, the hotel room itself needs some work. The shower curtain, as pictured, was so short it didn’t even go INSIDE the tub, making water splash all over the floor. I couldn’t turn on the heat because the one on the wall wasn’t working, so someone came up to help and alas it didn’t work but then they said when the one on the wall doesn’t work then the one by the window does… weird…Ran out of Kleenex. At least the room had a mini kitchen. Also the parking situation was horrible. Upon checking in two cars were parked in the 15 minutes or less “check in” parking and were there for two whole days. I had to park far to check in. Also cars were in the “IHG status” spots who obviously weren’t status. I wish I had stayed at the hotel next door instead.

These people or staff of Candlewood Hotel in San Antonio Seaworld are scammer they charge my credit card additional stay even though
I stayed only for 1 day… my security deposit was refunded but after 2 weeks I got another charge for 1 day on my credit card…even though I did not stay or booked on their hotel. Stay away from IHG hotels or Candlewood Suites. It’s hard to dispute from your credit card bank, because once they got you credit card…THIS hotel will use it again without your consent…because you already stayed In their hotel. It’s your words agains their words. Again stay AWAY from this hotel or under IHG hotels. If you read some reviews of this hotel they are sneaking additional charges solely for scamming innocents guest.

THIS IS LONG BUT PLEASE READ FIRST!!! I am giving this a one star review for the overall experience. I have been traveling to San Antonio for over 30 years and 95% of the time we have stayed at this hotel. The last couple of times have been questionable but this time we made the decision never to come back to this hotel. We had a double queen for the 4 of us and to begin with they would only give us 3 towels. We stayed for 6 days and went to a theme park everyday so we needed towels everyday to shower. Of course we accumulated trash, which for the most part we took out ourselves. There was one day that we heard the housekeeper outside our door so we opened the door to ask her if she would take our trash and she said no that we would have to take it ourselves to a dumpster in the back. We didn’t ask for any services while we were there so it amazed me that the one time we asked we were denied. HERE IS THE REASON WE ARE NEVER COMING BACK, when we checked in the front desk said to us our security only patrols the back parking lot. Which was a weird way to begin our stay but we said ok. We ended up parking in the back because we thought, well I guess there is a reason she is telling us that. We ended up getting our vehicle broken in to anyways. When we went to tell the front desk there was not any type of apology, they didn’t even care. They asked if they got anything good??? Then when asked to look at cameras(we filed a report to be able too) they said ohhh you parked out of view!!! This is the most ridiculous service I have ever received especially when we had been a victim of a crime. This made us so uncomfortable every single night hoping that we would wake up to our vehicle still there. We could not sleep every night and it was nerve wrecking. This happened our first night staying so our entire trip was basically a waiting game to see if our vehicle had been broken in to again, vandalized or gone all together.
