Visiting downtown and came across the entrance to view the exhibit and other than the folks at the front desk not being too greeting to the other customers and myself, the exhibition was very interesting and very well put together. Super clean, including the restrooms. Very intimate and informative pictures of the immigrants and their journeys and struggles in the photos display. But really disappointed in the 2 employees at the entrance not being helpful in telling us the process to sign in and at least communicating to us a little of what we are walking in to. Other than that, it went well.

Centro de Artes is a great little excursion to view free culturally relevant rotating art exhibits! I had the pleasure of attending an artist talk (just one on a list of events the venue offers throughout the year) to hear from some of the photographers and curator of their current exhibit: From SA to SA. Getting to hear the stories behind the artwork is always a nice touch, and the event also provided light food and drink. Popping in when you already find yourself at Market Square is the best way to go. Keep in mind, if you are traveling to this side of town just for the museum, you will have to pay for parking in one of the various lots surrounding the area. I can vouch that the Goodwill across the street offers one hour free, which could be just enough time to browse if need be! Ultimately, it is clear that Centro de Artes puts a lot of effort and emotion into choosing their pieces and I think it is such a neat way to represent our city!

Soy de Tejas exhibit was amazing! Centro de artes is a former museum turned gallery-the space is 2 story, high ceilings, white spacious walls. Located in the heart of the Market Square, this art space and exhibition is a delightful unexpected surprise. Contemporary artista from Texas are featured here and the shows are changing on a regular basis to give you something different to look at. Admission is free but parking is usually a paid lot.

This is a true cultural icon of San Antonio, one that not enough people visit. We took in their latest exhibit, "Soy de Tejas," and again were moved by the diversity and color of the pieces.

Art is 4 stars, very symbolic and meaningful stuff (some other abstract stuff that i dont really get or want to understand, despite being hispanic and all) but the place is so small so I can't give it a 5, buuuut it's free so I won't give it 3 stars. That's my experience with the place at least. Hope you find a better time than me and appreciate it more

it is incredible that this gallery exhibit is free! two stories of various collections that were all captivating. i especially loved the life size checkers near the front staircase. my only complaint was parking was paid only due to the busy main street market adjacent to the gallery.
