The only bummer on the entire course is the 18th hole. Fairway slopes significantly from the right to the left. A good tee shot down the middle will roll off the fairway into the rocks often resulting in a lost ball. If you expertly fade a good tee shot, the ball can hit hard ground with the ball running across the cart path into the rocks with an unplayable lie if you are lucky enough to find your ball.
The 18th hole would have been much better designed had sand bunkering been placed along the fairway's left side. This one hole is capable of destroying an otherwise good score, This, by the way, is agreed upon by many good players.

The greens were probably the worst I've played in all of San Antonio.

This is a great golf course. Back nine in a quarry with multiple levels. The front nine is rolling hills. Overall the conditions were as good as any course in the San Antonio area. Pace of play was adequate finishing in just under 4 hours.

This golf course is terribly run. We came here because of the great reviews but now we will probably never return. We are a group of 6 and were told by the club house that we could golf together as long as we didn't slow down other groups. As we finished the first 9 holes we were stopped by the Marshall and told someone complained that we had 6 people together and it wasn't allowed. Then as we were half way through the 2nd 9 holes a group of 4 guys cut across the course and got ahead of us. Then they will proceeded to take 10 minutes or longer per hole. I tried calling the club house and the general manager Dustin. All calls went unanswered. I find it pretty ridiculous that we are held to a standard but some other people aren't. As I have stated above we will not being coming back to this place.

Golf course is always in great condition. They don't stack tee times like Alamo city golf trails. Marshall regulates play. Prices are higher but worth it for the course and pace of play. And the amount especially in the afternoon is worth it! I joined club quarry. It is my favorite course in San Antonio.

This is a great course. So much fun to play, incredible views and layout, just challenging enough to keep you on your game. This is a must play course. Not sure why they had us teeing off on 10 to start, but if we had played the front nine first, it would have been a better experience. After playing the quarry first (the back 9), the front nine are a bit of a letdown. Had we started on that 9, the finish would have been incredible. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Completely a 5 star experience all the way around.

Hard to find something wrong with this golf course. It was fairly forgiving, yet challenging at times and still fun. One of the cooler courses I've played in terms of scenery -- although I was told it helped to play on a cooler day, as the quarry can hold heat. I'm tempted to just play here again my next time through town. Only complaint is the greens were a bit bumpy and tough to read, but just that time of year.

My group has been coming here from Houston for 20 years. Frankly I was appalled at the condition of the golf course. Tee boxes were chewed up with divots and it was obvious the grounds crew was not filling them on a daily basis. The greens appear to be infested with poa annua and are extremely grainy and SLOOW. The fairways were decent. While I understand we are currently in drought conditions, the condition of the greens is unacceptable if you're going to charge people $100. On the bright side, the food and service in the grill was excellent (the only reason for the 2 stars...). Personally there are other better options in San Antonio.

My experience was incredibly disappointing. For as much as we paid, I would've expected greater service instead of being ask if it was our first time on a course based on their prejudice judgment. The course itself was dreadfully boring and no exciting scenery. There was also no help with our clubs at the end of our session. I will never be going back. I recommend La Cantera 10/10 for service, scenery, price, and a great overall experience.

The front nine basically is a warm up to the challenging holes on the back nine. That back nine inside an old quarry leaves almost no possibility of wind but the holes are challenging enough. It would have been nice for a bit of a breeze tho. All in all, the guys had an amazing time playing and want to return. The course Marshall keeps everything starting and running smoothly.
