This gym is great. The best Golds in San Antonio I have been to. My wife and I both workout here. It is clean and well managed. The staff are friendly and helpful. This place definitely creates a sense of community.

Highly recommend this place to all the women in San Antonio! đȘđŒâš
I found it through ClassPass and absolutely loved it! The class worked my entire body, the instructor was super attentive to my form (which is a huge deal for me!), and the vibe was amazing. Everyone there was so friendly â I felt comfortable and welcomed right away. đ«¶đŒ

Really excellent gym. Many types of machines and free weights and lots of room. Very clean and the staff is very friendly. I consistently have a positive experience here.

Iâve read some other reviews and realized I wasnât alone in my experience with Warren. On just the second day of my membership, after finishing a workout, I decided to try out the steam room for the first time. As I was sitting there, the manager, Warren, abruptly opened the door and told everyone to "knock it off." Confused, I immediately asked what he was talking about. He stared directly at me, pointed, and said, "You know what I'm talking about." The whole interaction made me feel extremely uncomfortable.
I want to make it clear that Iâm straight and I fully understand and commend management for addressing inappropriate behavior in the gym. However, Warrenâs style of handling the situation leaves a lot to be desired. About five minutes later, I found Warren in the locker room and confronted him, asking why he felt the need to 1) barge into the steam room and start yelling, and 2) accuse me of something I hadnât done. His apology was far from convincing, but he shook my hand anyway.
My advice to Warren is to use a more level-headed approach when addressing such issues. Rather than throwing out accusations and threats, he should consider a calmer method that respects the individuals who are legitimately there to use the amenities theyâre paying for. This is definitely not the kind of experience I expected for a $50 a month gym membership. Iâd advise against signing up here unless youâre okay with fake pleasantries from Warren at best.

I now love this gym , again ! I use to come hear a couple of years back but stopped do to inappropriate behavior, by other members in the locker room, sauna and steam room. But they are cracking down big time on that stuff and I am sooooo very appreciative! A couple of years ago I would bring my son, who at that time was a minor , and it was terrible to have to explain to him that he could not be in the locker rooms by himself because of the behavior that was taking place throughout there. Such great amenities, the sauna and steam room, and couldnât even enjoy them because some grown men didnât know how to control themselves! . I donât care what anyoneâs sexuality preferences are or what or who they are attracted to! But my son and I should not have to tolerate anyone carrying out or attempting to carry out, their sexual activities in public.
And all posts on here that are continually being edited by the authors , wow! lol!
Says a lot about their claim in my opinion. Guilty much..?? I donât know the manager. But if he is cracking down on the indecency that had been taking place for so long , hey corporate! GIVE THAT MAN A RAISE! Because here he is now suffering backlash over doing what is right and should have been done long ago !
Mr. Warren , Sir, bravo !

Though I was a member for a short period of time at the Austin Hwy location in Alamo Heights, the time spent there could not have been a better experience. From the greeting each time I walked in, to the staff throughout the facility, the atmosphere was inviting, clean and obviously well managed. It is my understanding that the current GM, Warren, has made some significant changes (for the better) since joining this location. Either way, his management, and his team that work alongside of him, have certainly demonstrated how to run a gym/fitness center. Thank you Gold's - Alamo Heights for a wonder experience!

Best Golds in the state and still in a state of being conventionally set up⊠No loud music, well lit, and no one taking selfie videos of their workout. Manager is great and runs a tight ship.

This location is clean and well taken care of.
First and foremost. Warren the GM is a good guy. A really good gay friend of mine was hired by him and wouldnât be working for someone who was homophobic, As some of these recent reviews have claimed. Calling this man a homophobe is ridiculous.
Itâs very clear plenty of the LGBTQ+ individuals workout here regularly with zero issues.
The real issue is the individuals who abuse the steam room and sauna rooms. They are really great amenities to have but a handful of people attempt to use this as crusing hub attempting to hook up in steam room and sauna. There are MINORS yes minors, High schoolers that go into this steam room. So yes I have complained to management numerous times about PEOPLE trying to do their inappropriate activities in the locker room.
Warren does walk the locker room usually just keeping up the cleanliness of the area as does most of the other male employees, nobody is being âharassedâ, of course the manager should be stern if people are engaging in inappropriate activities, but this isnât the only location dealing with the same issue. If a gym has a steam room and or sauna more than likely your gym maybe dealing with something similar. Again there are minors in this locker room and steam room, and there are some grown men who try to come here with the intent hook up.
And the individuals who partake in said activities should embarrassed by their depraved behavior. You care about nobody but your yourself. The thing is too that itâs not just gay men doing such acts, people who identify as âstraightâ are also using this website called Sniffies which is a cruising website NOT a dating app.
so itâs not a âdiscriminationâissue, itâs a public indecency issue and I emailed the gym with screenshots of the activities being planned by local users who want to take advantage of these amenities at the expense of everyone else in the locker room, not caring who they are exposing themselves in front of.
I encourage you other members to report this nonsense also.
Just look at this sniffies website, itâs graphic but youâll see for yourself, it tells you where and when, and people get on there to promote the true nature of their intentions for coming to this gym.
Iâve run into a similar issue at Rogerâs ranch and the quarry. I use to workout here regularly but now just every once and awhile, because Iâm sick of people trying to use these amenities as their own personal bathhouse or something⊠very weird behavior and I will continue to bring this to managements attention.
Itâs ridiculous that anyone thinks this is okay and it needs to be stopped.
How are the staff members the bad guys for not wanting other members exposed to explicit activity. A private establishment we all are paying for, and should be able to come to the gym without being exposed to explicit activity.
Thank you to management for trying to keep these amenities for what they are intended for, instead of turning a blind eye to it like other gyms do.

I recently joined Gold's Gym, my first time ever joining a large gym, and had a deeply distressing experience on my first day that I feel compelled to share to warn others, especially LGBTQ+ individuals.
During my visit, I encountered the general manager, Warren, who made me feel extremely uncomfortable and discriminated against. While using the treadmill, Warren approached me, introduced himself, and asked my name, which was unusual and intrusive. Later, he kept staring at me while I was doing sit-ups and even followed me into the locker room, continuing to make unnecessary comments and inquiries. This behavior was already highly unsettling.
The situation escalated in the sauna. Warren entered twice, yelling loudly at me and others to cover up more, despite us being fully covered. He aggressively stated that he wouldn't tolerate any inappropriate behavior in his sauna, and directed his anger particularly at me, using harsh and offensive language. His conduct was intimidating and unprofessional.
One of the men in the sauna, who was fully covered, stated this to Warren, only to be met with more yelling. Warren said, "There is no arguing with me, you do as I say. Do you understand me? The stuff (censored words were used here, I can not put in the review) in this sauna is going to stop," while pointing at the man. His behavior was reminiscent of an abusive figure and was completely inappropriate for talking to grown adults who were not doing anything wrong.
I am baffled and disgusted by the assumption that I would partake in something inappropriate in a sauna with strangers just because Iâm gay. I have severe anxiety and am autistic, and this incident was extremely troubling to me. I was doing everything I could to mind my own business and keep to myself, as I always try to when I'm in public.
Since this incident, I have spoken to several of my gay friends who have had similar experiences with Warren or have witnessed his behavior towards other gay men. It appears that Warren has made it a habit to treat gay men this way. I also have knowledge that he might be using location-based apps to identify gay men at the gym and then follows and harasses them until they leave. This is unacceptable behavior.
Upon leaving the gym, I asked to cancel my membership. Warren loudly stated "GLADLY!" while slamming down the paperwork and said "sign here." After signing, he said "Yeah, we donât allow that kind of behavior here." I said, "What are you talking about?" He replied, "You know what I'm talking about." I told him I did nothing wrong and was minding my business, and he repeatedly talked over me to "Have a good day." Warrenâs final words to me were that âthis gym isnât for you,â which I believe was a direct attack on my identity as a gay man.
I urge anyone considering this gym, particularly those in the LGBTQ+ community, to be aware of this managerâs discriminatory behavior. Your safety and comfort are paramount, and sadly, this was not the environment I found at Gold's Gym.
***EDIT: In response to the other review who is calling me out and saying it was likely justified just confirms that's one of the managers friends he probably asked to review because as you can see the manager isn't going to reply to me here publicly so he is having his friends do it for him. I was in the Gold's Gym for a total for like one hour. I had my headphones in and minded my business the ENTIRE time.
***EDIT X2 having more of his friends come to the defence. Somehow not understanding that I DID NOTHING AND NEVER would do any of what you are describing. I'm aware those things happen, but it has nothing to do with me. Simply being a gay man should not constitute being followed, yelled at, and harassed for simply existing.
This manager is so ridiculous he has

Gyms with pools are hard to come by. A few years back, I received a week trial pass for Goldâs in El Paso when I was finishing up my Doctorate. I loved how clean and uncrowded it was, but ultimately went somewhere else because it lacked a pool.
When I first moved to San Antonio last year, the Goldâs Gym by my house had a pool, but it wasnât operational, I guess since Covid, so I just decided to do the home gym thing. Fast forward to a few weeks ago. I wasnât using my Peloton enough, and was looking for a change, when I found out that this Goldâs location near my work has a pool.
The manager, Warren, seemed welcoming at first, but midway through my conversation with him about the gym and its facilities, he stepped away briefly, and became incredibly confrontational with a nearby member. When he returned, his demeanor towards me changed. I decided not to move forward with my membership because I just got a weird vibe from him, and I couldnât figure out what it was until I read some of the reviews. I was wearing a rainbow watch band, and asked questions specifically about the pool and sauna. I canât be sure, but my spidey senses tell me that his change in attitude may have been homophobic. I find it disheartening that this is even a topic of discussion in 2024, and during pride month at that, but it seems I may have dodged a bullet.

Iâve been a member of Golds Alamo Heights since 2006. By far, Warren Young has been the best General Manager. His attention to every aspect of the gym makes it best in class! He leads his employees by example. Thereâs nothing beneath him. He does it all⊠cleaning, greeting members, racking weights, folding towels at the front desk - he does it all. His dedication to the members is much appreciated!! Bill M
