Very fun! Me and my daughters and her friends went to the ice center for her birthday party it was a delight! They had a great time and definitely are going to want to come back the workers were so kind and there was even a dog. There was a downside though it was only open for 2 hours and they had to clean the ice for like 20 minutes. Definitely coming back!

I took my daughter and her friends for her birthday party it was alright to say the least, they were having such a fun time but they had to stop because they cleaned the ice in the middle of the day if I’m paying 300$ just for a few girls I want them to skate the whole time, food was alright but for the most part they had fun which is the whole point

I grew up ice skating here. They used to have multiple skate options (figure skates, hockey skates, etc.) Now they only have incredibly uncomfortable skates. I am still bruised from them.

FILTHY PLACE. Same sticky rings on upstairs table for over 6 months. I finally brought baby wipes and cleaned it myself. The stairs and floors look like they haven’t been cleaned in years. Same clumps of dust, sand, and downright filth for over a year and a half since I’ve been coming here. Blows my mind.
Also, they make the players pay for USA Hockey but don’t follow the rules AT ALL so it’s a complete rip off. Isn’t that fraud..?
But again. Such an unclean public establishment.
It’s such a bummer that we are stuck with this place because it’s the only one in the city.

I want to start off with saying, this is the only consistent Ice skating rink year round in San Antonio. With it being around for so long, I would have thought it would have been a much better experience, but with no competition, I guess you get what you get.
Here are the reasons i took off 2 stars:
This is not beginner friendly, there are no assistance devices. You are given skates and that's it. If you want to skate during the winter for fun, go to Gruene or downtown San Antonio, at least there you can get assistance devices to help you actually enjoy the rink and not just slowly walk along the outside.
I do not ice skate frequently, but have before, so for me it was enjoyable, but my kids and family i invited wanted a safe place to give it a try and this was not it. Maybe after winter we will try again.
Also, the concession attendants. 2 of the 3 workers there were amazing and made me feel very welcome. But the one that seemed to be running it, barking orders and openly berating his co-workers really did not sit well with me. He had a sour face the entire time and look annoyed when any sort of line formed.
Here is why there are still 3 stars:
Getting my sticker to go on the rink was quick and easy, bystanders do not need to pay to get in and watch, skate attendants and safety were amazing and definitely were paying attention and checking on anyone who fell almost immediately.
Though there really is no order kept in the rink other than the direction. People are pretty much given free reign and allowed to go as fast as they want. But I will say I saw ZERO collisions and seasoned skaters were very respectful of those struggling.
Ramen vending machine WITH hot water. I would give the location a 5 star review ONLY because of the ramen vending machine. Take Cash for the machines though, a lot of the card options for machines were not working.
Overall, an OK experience. My kids still enjoyed it, so that is a win for me.
IF you enjoy Ice skating and can at least skate decently well or better, its worth it and you will have a good time, but mostly because there really is no other option. If you are looking to just try it out, go ahead, just temper your expectations.

I walked up to pay, and the guy behind the counter decided it was a good time to have a ten minute long conversation. The girl behind the counter keeps looking at me but says nothing. Finally, the guy turns towards me, looking all annoyed like I was bothering him. I'm not sure why he wanted to make me feel so uncomfortable. All I did was wait patiently to pay so my kids could go ice skating. It shouldn't be so hard just to pay for admission, especially when there are two people there.
