This hotel does not offer a lot of service. I only spoke to someone at check in and check out. Never saw anyone else around to help.
The hotel restaurant is only open for brunch? Where are you supposed to eat dinner? Oh, at the crappy mall next door. They have fast food options, I guess.
This location is really suffering from the construction at it's doorstep. I suppose someday it will be lovely to walk out on the plaza. But right now you can barely walk, because the sidewalk is so small.
They really should be offering a steep discount while everything is a mess in October 2024.

Our suite was very nice with room for sharing beverages and conversation with friends. For now, BE SURE TO ASK FOR A ROOM AWAY FROM CONSTRUCTION. The couple we were traveling with got a room too close to the noise and had to move.
Rooms: Our suite was spacious and included a sitting area, walk-in closet and mini-fridge. Linens were of good quality. View was nice.
Nearby activities: Alamo, River Center Mall, Riverwalk
Walkability: Very walkable
Food and drinks: Bar was nice but very noisy at night, so we sat outside
Noteworthy details: Historic hotel

The Menger is currently undergoing construction outside of it so be aware of the extra noise (bring sound machines). We stayed in the presidential suite. It had three balconies but no chairs to sit on in the balconies. They give you two free drink vouchers when you check in. The location is right next to the mall which is super convenient. Beware of the information desk at the mall is really people selling time shares! The Alamo is also right outside the hotel, you can visit for free (or pay for extra things). If you are sensitive to smells DO NOT stay at the Menger, they pump a very strong scent throughout their entire hotel (all rooms included), I have altered smell from Covid and this is STRONG! They sell the scent they are pumping through at the front desk. The hotel has a lot of charm, I would research all the rooms before staying as they have so much character and many are original rooms.

The hotel is beautiful!!! But the staff is incredibly unprofessional and rude!! Minus the valet who was super kind the rest of the staff seemed like they hated their life and hated having us there. They yelled at us for a misunderstanding in front of everyone and didn’t apologize. Will not be staying here again due to incompetent and rude staff.

Awesome hotel! Super spooky vibe and in a fantastic location. The amenities were great—loved the pool, bar, and valet (shoutout to James!). The front desk staff was super nice and helpful. Had an amazing stay!

I had a reservation for October 22 for one night for our 30th anniversary. My wife became ill on the 18th. We had to cancel our trip because she couldn’t travel, and upon reading the fine print on my cancellation there is no refund, this sucks. People shouldn’t have to pay for facilities they don’t use. Will never use this service again.

I booked this hotel 6 months ago to find out they canceled my rooms because of invalid credit card. 3 days before check in. Tell me how is this possible if when I did checked in I plan to use a different credit card to make charges. Especially having book two rooms for my daughters 15th birthday celebration. Very disappointed.

The room was quite small and very noisy. Valet parking here was $45+
tax.
HOWEVER, THE LOCATION WAS VERY GOOD! 10 minutes to River Walk and 5 to Ford Alamo.
Of course, due to the low price of $165, we weren't staying in the nicest part of the hotel. See pictures.

The Menger Hotel is a historic structure in downtown San Antonio. The say Teddy Roosevelt recruited his rough riders at the hotel bar at this location. Old structure, so has gone through various renovations and there's plenty of history on the rooms, walls and halls that you stroll through while here. Alamo is in view and very close to this hotel. Easy access to the Riverwalk from this location as well. The local staff claim this hotel is haunted and they've had some experiences, but thus far we haven't witnessed much outtta the ordinary.

Firstly, the hotel is next to the Alamo and our room overlooked it.
The building is great and decor fantastic.
However, the staff let it down badly. Restaurant staff were rude and at check out the receptionist thought answering the phone was more important than focusing on me. I got a wave of the hand to say I could go. Meanwhile in the office behind I could hear someone bitching about a customer who had complained about their room being stuffy. Very unprofessional.

The Hotel is in a wonderful location and nice piece of architecture. Room was clean and cozy, though it starts to show some age.. Service was sometimes absent, like breakfast order in the room that was never picked up and breakfast hall not open way past 7:30AM.. beware that breakfast is not included in the room and is an extra 25$+tx when taken at the dinning room.. Other than that, I'd fully recommend and return anytime there if i come back to San Antonio.
Nearby activities: Just minutes away from the RiverCenter shopping mall.
Walkability: Hotel is equipped for wheelchair and there are only 3 storey's. No high rise building. Separate inyard pool and garden, very quiet.

The hotel was amazing as usual. The parking attendants were wonderful...especially Gracie and Bel, plus Savannah and Amores, who went above and beyond to make sure we were taken very good care of!
