San Antonio Zoo is a large nonprofit zoo home to over 800 species. Visitors often enjoy their time, finding it fun and beautiful, with many recommending it. The zoo offers special events, a water play area for kids, and a nearby kiddy park with rides, making it a good rotation for families. Unique experiences like feeding a giraffe or the exceptional overnight Roar and Snore event are highlighted as incredible and highly recommended, with hosts noted for being friendly, informative, and genuinely caring about the animals and education. However, some visitors report difficulties. Discount processing can sometimes be confusing and difficult at the ticket area. The terrain is noted as not very stroller or wheelchair friendly, with uneven and fairly steep walkways. During visits, some construction and closed areas are evident, and a number of animal cages can appear empty. While electric carts are available for rent, some find the cost a bit much. Despite these issues, many guests have a really good time and are impressed with the large zoo.
Gabi by the giraffe photo area had amazing customer service! We had a great time exploring all the animals and feeding the giraffes. This zoo always has friendly people working here and is fairly clean.

Gorilla exhibit was absolutely amazing. Although when we went, the maintenance crew were cleaning outside area for gorillas so only saw a few of them in the inside area. Overall the zoo was great to visit!
