I called about an injured pigeon and they called back promptly. On my way to bring it in it passed away. The lady there was very compassionate as I was being a blubbering emotional mess over it even though she's probably seen it a million times.

This day the rescue involved a wounded white winged dove with a wing fracture and possibly a punctured air sac per the initial assessment by the staff professional on duty.

San Antonio is truly blessed to have Wildlife Rescue with a staff so compassionate and professional. I have taken many animals in need including opossum Joeys when the mom was killed by a car to just recently a mourning dove found in a swimming pool after a strong rain storm. The staff and doctors are 5 star and the work they do is priceless.

Super super helpful and sweet worker helped me out! I brought a bat that I had found that wasn’t doing too great, everything was super easy and the workers sure made it awesome. Happy that sweet bat is getting the right help?

We took a little pigeon to the wildlife rescue because we thought the poor thing was sick probably with pigeon PMV. It was on the ground and would not move when approached it sitting beside our car at North Star Mall. We took it home and immediately put it in an open box with water for several hrs in case the heat was causing the issue, hoping it would drink and fly away. It was acting out of it and would not fly just as it had been when we picked it up. I finally put it outside in a bird kennel with food and water to keep cats from getting it. It would not fly away or take water or food so we ended up hans feeding and keeping it a for two days until it got stronger (I tried to let it eat on its own at first & offered peas, fruit, & bird food). It did get stronger. I decided it may need more help so took it to the wildlife rescue. The lady at the center started berating me for saving the bird saying that he was not sick had no problems and that now he was in “shock” and dehydrated (I kept water in outdoor cage & food 24/7) that we did more harm to it, we should have left him in the parking lot next to the other run over bird. The main issue was he was not afraid of humans now. I tried to explain he was not moving away from us an on the ground, barely responsive when I found him, should I have left him there? She kept insisting I should have left it, probably suffering from heat. Then started saying the main issue is I had domesticated a wild bird (given I only had it a few days and it was not a baby). I don’t know about you, but I have never seen a bird that isn’t sick not move when approached and on the ground. I understand telling me to bring it sooner next time, but honestly its symptoms showed pigeon pmv & I was unsure if the bird would be put down or not. This lady was in no place to be doing that after we tried to at help the bird. I started crying, did not donate as planned, and left. I hope the bird is ok

The folks at wildlife rescue and Rehabilitation are unsung heroes, they take in wild animals in need. I have been coming across birds or squirrels and whatnot that have needed rescuing and they have never turned me away. It is a great place for the little animals. A huge thank you to the folks that work there.

What a Godsend this place is. I brought two baby birds in; with just a couple of questions, and 1 form to fill out. They took them in. I couldn't have asked for an easier process. Thank you very much to this association and the staff.
