Great place for kids to start playing sports and getting new friends. The refs do a good job and the people are nice.

Honestly just go to Mays YMCA potranco - Schnabel park YMCA does NOT uphold christian values. The PRIDE FLAG displayed in the INFANTS room is a good way to guarantee we will not be back to this location. Also, this is the only time my son has ever been reprimanded by YMCA staff - he was crying and very upset. This never happens at Mays YMCA

My husband and I have been coming here for about a year now to use the gym and participate in personal training. We find the environment to be friendly and welcoming. We've worked with two trainers and both have been awesome! I appreciate that the environment feels community oriented and inclusive to anyone looking to improve their health. I feel very comfortable working out here and have started recognizing friendly faces around the gym. It's also very clean. Excited to work out here for years to come!

I’ve been really disappointed with the childcare at YMCA OP Schnabel. The staff do not come across as friendly or accommodating, which makes drop-off unnecessarily stressful. I’ve had repeated issues with their lack of flexibility around allowing my boys, who are close in age, to stay together. Other gyms (including other YMCAs - Potranco and Thousand Oaks) have been more accommodating in this area, and even here the groups are combined at different times of the day anyway, so the inconsistency is frustrating.
What concerned me the most was finding my child crying in the corner—something I only noticed because I happened to walk by the window. I was told he had been upset for about 10 minutes, but no one notified me. For a parent, that’s really upsetting.
I love the YMCA’s mission and community, but I feel the childcare here at this specific location could be improved by creating a more welcoming environment, being more flexible where possible, and keeping parents better informed when a child is struggling.

Unfortunately this post is coming to you late. These people discriminated my family because we truly love Christ, believe in Jesus as Lord and Savior and believe that the Bible is the inherent word of God. They care more about money, power, politics, and false doctrine than their slogans and social media portrays. They don’t hire education individuals who are versed in child care or special needs. Many of them are too young to be in the positions they are in. Rude, cold hearted and disrespectful. Smiles on the outside with blatant disrespect on the inside and not to mention slanderous. Gossip is a real problem at this y. I trusted them with very personal information about me and my family and got slapped in the face on how to deal with it. In meetings some leadership like to talk over you and make assumptions without any definitive proof. They don’t have any clue on how to train or treat people of disabilities and many times in the child education classes these kids get bullied by the educators or their peers. I’m not interested in resolution as I feel that that would take completely new staff and rewriting their policies. I’m just letting everyone else know you should skip this gym and look elsewhere unless you just don’t care.

Love the YMCAs in San Antonio! I always feel welcome at the YMCA at O.P. Schnabel and have made a lot of friends here since becoming a member about four years ago. The group exercise classes are great and the selection of youth activities is good also. Has been a wonderful place for my whole family.

I’ve been going there for a number of years. The facility has everything that I need yet it is small enough to have a family feel.

I am very impressed with the YMCAs in San Antonio. Everyone at this location is very friendly and I found a group exercise class I attend regularly that I love, And it’s great that you can go to the other locations when you want a change of scenery.

My son absolutely did not want to take swim lessons. During his first lesson with Ella at the YMCA at O.P. Schnabel Park , he told me he wished the lesson was longer and asked if he could take lessons every summer. I'm so grateful that Ella makes learning so much fun and less scary for him. He actually looks forward to it now! Five stars!

Very hot at 4 pm and not enough shade for everyone. Splash pad keeps us cool when open.
