It soooo rare to find front desk employees as nice as the ones at Hertz in San Marcos. Bevin and Del have helped me numerous times as I have had 2 totaled accidents and 3 fender benders over the past year. They are both very efficient, helpful, kind and patient. They made a stressful situation, not stressful. I will never go anywhere else for my rental. Oh, and on top of that, my first time going there, I went to the wrong location and was dropped off by an Uber. I ran into several of the corporate employees there who kindly offered to drive me to the correct location. Full service :)

Dear Expedia and Hertz,
I am writing to express my extreme dissatisfaction with the recent car rental experience I had through your companies. I made a reservation through Expedia and was given a rental through the local Hertz office in San Marcos, TX.
Upon receiving the vehicle, I was appalled by the state of the passenger's seat. It was excessively dirty and wet, to a point that I had never encountered before in any previous rental. I immediately requested a replacement vehicle, but unfortunately, the Hertz office did not have one available at that time. They asked me to return later in the afternoon.
We were in a bind that my wife had a flight out of Houston, TX, to see her ill mother. It is a 3 hour drive from San Marcos to IAH airport in Houston.
Due to the urgency of the situation, I had no choice but to accept the dirty vehicle and use a thick towel to cover the soiled seat.
As frequent travelers, we have always expected clean and hygienic accommodations, including vehicles and food. The level of dirtiness in the rental car was completely unacceptable and has significantly impacted our overall travel experience.
Given the circumstances, I am formally requesting a full refund for this rental. This was the worst car rental experience I have had in over four decades, and it is unacceptable that such a substandard vehicle was provided.
I hope you will take this matter seriously and address my concerns promptly.

The people were friendly. My issue is that I used the toll road and they charged me a 100% convenience fee.. In a word “scam”.

I have rented so many cars from hertz from many different states and this hertz is hands down the best one I have been at. Super friendly and very accommodating. So nice to get actual good customer service from a hertz place.

Dell and Tara are absolutely amazing! This has been the best customer experience I've ever had with a car rental. They went above and beyond!! No more Enterprise car rental for my family and I!! Thank you HERTZ!! ??

I selected this location from the list my insurance gave me, it was the closest they had with cars available to my home. When the Hertz call center reached out to me for confirmation, I was assured they could do a pickup at 4pm that day, but was advised to call an hour ahead to confirm. I tried to call the location, but no one ever picked up the phone. After several tries I called back to the call center to see what was going on. They were finally able to connect me to the location, where they informed me that pickup was not an option. I tried to setup a time for the next day where I could get a ride there to pick up a vehicle, and after confirming a time, only then did they see fit to mention they had NO VEHICLES AVAILABLE. I was at a loss for words. I hung up and called my insurance to find another provider (unfortunately another Hertz as no nearby Enterprise had any available due to the holiday weekend) who I will cover in their own review.
TLDR, Hertz is either incompetent regarding intra-company communication, or they flat out lie. DO NOT USE HERTZ.

Needed a rental while my car was at the mechanic getting a death sentence for a bad transmission and while finding a new car. Friendly staff and they had vehicle availability when I presented. I made the reservation though AAA with a Hertz national representative and they stated that I could drop the car off at this location on a Friday after 6:00 pm. However, as this location shares Chuck Nash's location and do not have control of gates, late drop off is not available. As I needed to use the car through that Friday, I had to do the drop off at the Hertz location in New Braunfels, which was not very convenient. As noted on other reviews, the automated phone system is unwieldly and it was a chore to get through to a person, but possible.

I paid 300 dollars with a apple gift card r ecomended by manager named Alice on the date of my rental that i was told would be delivered to me well the car needless to say never showed up I have not been contacted by anyone and it appears im out my 300 $ I live off social security this rental was to bring much needed items to my place in lockhartThe managerAlice cashed the card out and I never got my rental card really need that money back for more honest services like rent and food I do NOT recommend Hertz rentals at all they flat robbed me paid my 300 dollars and didnt get a dam thingill never recomend or use hertz again thanks for absolutely nothing they took my money and I received nothing at all thanks manager Alice !!!

This place is terrible! So unorganized, I scheduled an appointment to pick up a vehicle at 3pm - when I went to pick it up , they told me they didn’t have anything and that it was scheduled at 8am . They didn’t call to let me know any of this. I paid $300 for the deposit and didn’t have anything for me . I would not recommend at all

Horrible! customer service. They will give your reserved car away if you don't arrive at the exact time your booking starts. And one of the employees will laugh the whole time this news is being delivered to you. And they will do it with absolutely zero apology or care. They will leave you stranded and offer no assistance. They will give you their office number (upon request) to call to speak with the manager, but no one will answer that phone. This storefront runs all three SM locations, so choose Enterprise. I honestly can't remember more egregiously awful treatment by a business. Tamara told me that she gave my car away and even though she had one more in the inventory (that she could give me for an up charge!), she didn't like that I was upset that she'd chosen to not honor my reservation so therefore she would repeatedly let me know that she would not rent me that last available car between SA and ATX. Not cool Tamara. Not cool at all.

I can truthfully say that I have never had a worse experience with a car rental agency. I rented a car from Hertz in July 2023. It was a one way that I picked up at the San Antonio Airport.Pickup went fine, and I prepaid for the car and provided a credit card as collateral.I returned the car on time 24 hours later in downtown Fort Worth. The location was difficult to find in a maze of one-way streets at 5 pm. I finally found it, and saw that many other cars were being returned at the same time. My friend had been waiting for me over 30 minutes. She watched me pull up and park the car.I want inside and left the contract with the keys on the counter because no one was in the office except a man who said he was not responsible.As I was leaving a young attendant came in. I briefly indicated where the keys and contract were and left. I had inspected the car and knew it was clean enough to be vacuumed and re-rented.Two days later, I received a $400.00 cleaning charge for the outside of the car, which was spotless.When I called to ask about this, the woman was rude and combative.I spoke to a second person who removed 300.00 of the charges and said that , no it wasn't the outside, now it was the inside.I contested the charges and ended up having to pay an extra 100.00.No one from Hertz actually called me to discuss the issue, but one woman wrote me an email saying how sorry she was. Clearly, not sorry enough.I believe that the attendant and the first CSR just had a problem with me because I am white. I'm surprised to be saying this, but it appears to be the case. Hertz needs to do better diversity training. Not all angry white women are threatening to you and not all hurried white women are trying to be dismissive of you. I was a rental car agent when I was younger; I know it's difficult. However, using someone's credit card to express an emotion is illegal.
