I would give zero stars if I could. Been awhile since my wife and I were there. Didn't want to post in haste. So I have given more than enough time to be fair that I'm not giving a review out of anger and just facts. Took my wife on a hunt here in Jan. 2022 for whitetail. This place did the bare minimum! She took a shot a buck, I'm 99.9% sure she missed, they claimed she hit it. But would not put any effort into tracking the deer. Just effort in getting cash out of me. The ranch manager text me a couple days later saying that they had him wounded on camera. I asked for a pic of the "wounded deer" and haven't heard from him since. Place is very shady, from the owner calling me and telling me i needed to mail him a deposit to the ranch manager calling me the day before and saying that he'll only take cash and the whole way through till we pulled out the gate to go home. I would have been ok paying for the deer she "wounded" had they put effort in to finding the deer.

I paid this ranch a 2000 dollar deposit a few years back for a hunt that was canceled that year. I called them and told them that I would have to cancel and that I needed my deposit back. They told me that they could keep the deposit and apply it to a hunt at a later date, so I left it with them.I called last year to book a hunt and the conveniently couldn’t find record of my deposit. Luckily I was able to find the deposit payment and provided proof. Once proof was provided I have not heard from them at all. They won’t answer my phone or emails. This ranch appears to be run by con artists. I’d stay away.

If I could, I would put zero stars. I attended a Nilgai hunt on property this past weekend. Firstly, they were dishonest with their population. The ranch is around 1,710 acres and have only 6 Nilgai bulls. Early on, the guides demonstrated even more dishonest or a disability to perform simple hunting tasks such as ranging a target. After being told it would be made right, they denied us our money back or the ability to shoot another animal in a similar price bracket even when offered to pay the difference. This ranch has demonstrated both dishonesty and the inability to be proficient for any kind of hunting. To any considering, I implore you to stay away. You will be scammed out of $5,000.

We scheduled our hunt early last September 2022.We were told we would be the first and probably the only ones to hunt turkeys on the ranch for the spring season. In the 2 weeks from the start of the season before we hunted, there had been 21 turkey hunters on the property.Turkeys had been over hunted, and the population is very small. The 4 of us never had a shot, nor did the 2 or 3 groups before us.There actually was another hunter out when we were limiting where we could hunt.He never had a shot, either.Very disappointing.

This place is absolutely horrible. The guide/manager is lazy and and would only hunt for an 1 1/2 in the morning and 1 1/2 at night. Ranch is severely over hunter and lack the trophy species that are advertised on their website. The ranch owner Fred is a coward and blames and doesn't take responsibility for anything that happens on the ranch. My friend I hunted this ranch in early January with the promise that he would have the opportunity to kill a trophy Axis deer. However, he never saw an Axis buck during the 3 day hunt and Fred, the so called owner would not refund his $4,000 he paid to shoot an Axis deer. I would strongly recommend to stay away from this ranch.

Hunted here in January, 2023. 1st off, was scheduled to arrive on a Thursday, called Wednesday before I left town to confirm what I needed to bring. NOBODY had a record of us coming to hunt. Story was that nobody told the ranch manager we were coming. Red flag! Purchased Axis Trophy hunt. Traveled across the country - before we took the luggage out of the truck, they wanted CASH payment and signed contract. They offered us to hunt for about an hour and a half in the am + an hour and a half in the pm. Ranch had very few species and the species they did have were very young, year and a half at the most. Last morning of the hunt, after not seeing any Bull Axis deer, manager offered me to shoot a Fallow for the same $4000.00 price but it was running across the field. I discussed getting a refund because I purchased an Axis Trophy deer package but they had NO Axis deer to offer, was told by the ranch manager I needed to contact Fred Rich, the ranch owner. Unfortunately, ranch manager never showed his face again, didn't say bye, thank you for coming, NOTHING, sent his brother to do his dirty work & collect his tip. Called owner Fred Rich after returning home, stated my name and his immediate response was "you can come back for $495.00 a day guide fee + $69.00 a night for the room." Told him I wasn't interested in spending any more money there, just wanted to get a refund. He proceeded to tell me "I'm not the owner, talk to the ranch manager" & HUNG UP ON ME. Called the ranch manager and he said this was all out of his control and he was not authorized to that. BAD BUSINESS. Ranch offered no satellite, meal plan is you buy your groceries and the ranch managers wife will cook you 2 meals a day for $125 a day. Not to mention, they want EVERYTHING paid in CASH, CASH, CASH. If you're considering purchasing a hunt @ Lonesome Bull Ranch, I highly recommend doing some research. You won't have to look far. Texas hunting forums, yelp, Facebook, etc. This is Fred Rich - I tried to post review on Facebook and was blocked. This was their response on Facebook prior to being blocked -

I’ve been going here for about 5 years. And plan to return every year in the future! Steve really goes way over and beyond to make sure that everyone in the family has an awesome stay, and puts you on the animals! Him and his dad(Denver) are very knowledgeable about the animals, and are some very good down to earth people. The lodge has been clean and very nice to stay in every time. And this place never disappoints! I’ve been on a lot of hunts but this place and these people top them all!

The old reviews are indicative of what I recently experienced. Offered animals, sent check, got a limited number of animals and constantly told "we are catching them next week" which was certainly not true. Finally asked for refund and after awhile received it. I certainly won't deal with the ranch or Fred Rich again - do so at your own peril!

Wouldn't recommend this place for animal sales. They are very shady and there are articles on the internet that say he scams customers out if their money.
