This is a Kroger. I've been visiting the Houston area for over a decade, and I've seen a few of these. As grocery stores in Texas go, it's solid: Clean and bright and the staff seemed pretty on top of things. They had just about everything we were looking for (including the chili crisp that our Texas fam had never tried) and a decent selection of ribs. Their Easter section was a little picked over, but overall not bad. The produce was solid enough, the checkout lady was super nice, and I love that they have Boars Head meat at the deli counter. Be aware though, if you don't specifically ask them to slice your turkey or ham or whatever thin, you're going to get the thickest cold cuts you've ever had. Or, the thickest cold cuts I've ever had. Maybe that's how you all do it down here, but you're doing it wrong, just like how you pronounce the name of your city. It's HOW-STON.

Update 2023. The store was refreshed. The new floor tiles are peeling up all through the store. Cheap vinyl tiles misapplyed ! The floors are a mush mash of taped places. Somebody needs to be fired. Two days before Thanksgiving, not one bag of tamale husks.4 days before New Years, not one bag of black eyed peas.Who is running the stock in this store ?This store is so frustrating. Sundays are the worst ! The produce isles are slim pickings, the milk, eggs and non dairy milks have empty shelves. This store is too small, understocked and old. I drive to a bigger store across town whenever possible

I really appreciated the night manager on 10/15 for going above and beyond to go back and check if the ice cream I wanted was in the back after I picked up my online order and then coming back with options after the one I wanted wasn’t available. Anybody else would’ve simply said they were out of stock and left it at that but he made sure I still went home with my ice cream!

Everyone is really nice here and always welcoming. Kroger has the best blueberry muffins I get them everytime for breakfast. I love the variety of foods here. I'm always able to find what I'm looking for. The store is always clean and everything is stacked nicely. So far I've not had any problems at the store.

I used to love this store. I've been taking my 2 year old grocery shopping a few times a week as part of our morning routine for almost a year, and I actually liked that this store was smaller and the daytime staff was so personable. However, they stopped carrying our favorite breakfast item (that I now have to buy at Randall's) and they didn't restock our favorite ABC cookies for 3 straight weeks. Then the wheel on their only children's cart (the race car that you can put 2 kids in) broke, and instead of fixing or replacing it, they just got rid of it. It made me sad. My son used to excitedly run to that basket every time and loved "steering" us through the store. It's such a little detail, but it was important to us. I also have a 6 year old and I can't take both of them shopping if I can't put both of them in the cart. Now we just go to HEB or the Kroger on Fairmont Pkwy, because it's just not the same. The store manager said that they would not be getting a new kids cart because they're an older store. I took that as "you aren't important enough as a customer to us that we'd fix the one thing that matters most to you". You'd think they could just get another kids cart from another Kroger store that's got 10 of them sitting out, ready to go.

Thank you Kroger for the burnt fried chicken we just paid for today. I guess the staff doesn't care if they serve customers burnt chicken. Not even my dog wants to eat the chicken. ??

This location has seriously gone downhill. I went in a couple days ago and immediately noticed a strong propane smell (this isn’t the first time). I chose to ignore it again and kept on. After putting a couple of refrigerated protein drinks in my cart I noticed a rotten odor. Thinking it was something on the wheel of my cart I kept shopping and proceeded to self checkout. As I went to scan my groceries, I noticed both of the protein drinks were leaking and bubbling up and identified where the rotten smell was coming from. The employee working self checkout was polite and apologized and took the expired drinks away. I notified her of which drink refrigerator I took them from (by the entrance), checked out, got home, and realized that all of the produce I had just purchased expired the same day I bought it. Opened the containers and the fruit and vegetables smelled disgusting. Partly my fault for not checking first but I don’t understand why they weren’t thrown away or at the very least marked down. I had to throw it all away and I’m too disgusted to go back. I don’t even want to think about what else is going wrong in this store. Health concerns aside, groceries are getting too expensive to gamble with. Whoever is in charge of QA at this location needs to do a major overhaul.

The produce department is sadly stocked. Usually if I have something I need I call beforehand to make sure they have it. I hate that they quit unloading your cart for you. That was a charming touch that I always appreciated. I quit doing big grocery shopping there because the meat section and the produce section are scarce.

Not the greatest selection and small aisles, but pretty good prices and friendly service.
