“I first met Dr. Shockey 8 years ago, having just moved to Lubbock. My dog Bella had a growth inside her mouth. Another vet clinic had told me just keep an eye. So I sought a second opinion at Key Vet Clinic. She declared it suspicious, likely cancer. She was right. She recommended a surgery to gift us 6 months. 6 months on the dot, Bella told us it was time to say goodbye. We were able to schedule an at-home euthanasia and had a very peaceful experience.
Our current dog Hopper goes to Key for vet care. We have been very happy with the thorough and compassionate care from Dr. Shockey, Dr. Stangl, and Dr. D. The few times we’ve had an urgent vet issue, they’ve been able to fit us in. I am more than happy to wait a little longer at well visits if they are running late, as I know they likely extended the same care to another family with an urgent vet care need. They have helped us navigate her allergies. They support my desire to feed Hopper squeeze cheese during shots and blood draws. When she was a puppy, they welcomed happy visits so she would be more comfortable at the vet office.
Our cat Darwin had always been a bit cranky. It can be embarrassing to bring a cranky cat to the vet. They were always very understanding and patient. They even have a dedicated cat exam room, so it won’t smell like dogs. In his senior years, they supported his vet visits with various levels of anxiety meds and sedation. One of my biggest fears was that he would not have a peaceful passing, due to his crankiness with handling. She walked us through what progressing kidney disease may look like, so we knew what to look out for. When the time came, once again, I was grateful Dr. Shockey and her vet tech team were able to provide our 17 year old cat a peaceful euthanasia experience.
It’s important to me to have an established vet I trust, as it makes the stress of an injured or ill pet a little less, knowing you trust the vet’s recommendations. Through regular well visits, they get to know your dog and their health status, so they can navigate changes that come with age. At Key, my experiences have been positive from the reception to the techs to the vets.”

“Yesterday was my first visit to P.E.T.S. and it couldn't have gone any better! I always heard how difficult it is to get it, and with such exceptional people and service, I can see why, however, that was not the case for me. I sent an email about TNR for a colony of cats. I got a very quick response and was put on the schedule. The staff was so helpful from loading and unloading the kitties to answering every question I had. I received updates via text and kitties did so well. I so appreciate their service and staff. Oh, one thing for you new customers, entrance is through the back of the building ?! Thank you!”
“I believe God places special angels on this earth to take care of animals. Dr. Heigi is one of those special angels. Thank you for loving and caring for our girls, Hagen and Sadie.”

“My girl split her nail very badly and her quick was exposed, worried about it getting infected i decided to take her in. We were seen quickly and her treatment was less than I was expecting it to be. The girls at the front desk were friendly. Happy with the care Sage got today ! Thank you!”

“My experience has always been great! All of the doctors and staff are friendly & professional! It is also very affordable compared to other vets for immunizations. I had an emergency situation for my puppy & I was very thankful I was able to pay the full amount up front! Highly recommend for your fur babies!”
