Dollar General has what you need for a quick shopping trip. Although I wouldn't quite put it cheaper than Walmart but by far better than going to Walmart if you don't like crowds.

Great place for cleaning supplies, staples like milk, bread, paper products and toiletries you may need in a pinch. 95% of the time they have good deals on things you need if you sign up on their app. They even have a decent collection of greeting cards.
