Went to go look at animals today for adoption. No one even made eye contact with us. Stood around for about 10 mins watching employees talking and laughing in the offices, walk past us, etc. Finally gave up and left. Absolutely pathetic.

THIS PLACE IS HORRIBLE!!! Do not Bring any pets here ! All they do is kill them. Even when they have a good home to go to. Kayla is very rude and careless along with the very unprofessional supervisor. THEY NEED NEW STAFF THAT ACTUALLY CARES ABOUT THE ANIMALS AND FINDING THEM GOOD Homes.

These people don't do any vet care on these pets. They are always redoing the shelter yet the animals look sad and pathetic don't get the attention they deserve. I adopted a beautiful sweet dog and he does of cancer and it is awful. I can't even imagine how you can call yourself humane if you don't through check everything out on a pet before adopting them to someone

My husband & I have both taken items here to donate on 2 separate occasions and both times were an unpleasant experience. When I recently went I walked in with my hands full of donation items and the 4-5 workers at the desk tried their best not to even look at me. Didn’t get a hello or anything. I stood there for a moment because I was unsure of what I needed to do and finally one of them looked up at me but didn’t say anything. So I said “hello I have donation items” and then someone else says “you can just put them here on the counter.” That was it. I hope they don’t treat people trying to adopt the animals this way!

This needs to be stopped. Went to this shelter, adopted a 2 month old cat. He was one of the MANY crusty, malnourished cats. They told us nothing about this cat. When I say nothing I mean we asked point blank if the cat had any other illnesses or disfigurements not presenting at the moment, the tech/receptionist looked at us and unenthusiastically says no and continues back to what she was doing. The shelter may have been revamped but it seems the same should be done to the staff! We told them we had another cat and they ended up giving him his second round of vaccines right then to be able to take him home, I truly don’t know if he was ready for the second round yet though. We took him home he had a runny, bloody stool which I hoped was just stress and due to environment change and even the vaccine possibly but keeping an even closer eye on him. Besides that he ate, meowed, walked around but was very cuddly, a little too clingy. The next morning he ate fine and meowed a lot, the bloody stools continued throughout the day however. Mid day he was taking a nap and when I went to move him to me he was very lethargic and barely making noise. I immediately realized something was off and tried stimulating him and warming him to see if it would help, nothing was changing so I started giving him water bc I checked his gums and inner ears and they were more pale than pink, so I know he was dehydrated. He couldn’t hold himself up anymore and would flop over anytime he tried to stand. While laying down he began to defecate on himself. After a while of giving him some water and cat formula he started meowing again and could sit up very shakily. I could tell he was cold so I wrapped him up and held him to warm him. He fell to sleep and I came back 30-45 minutes later to give him more water as research had said to do. He was moving more, meowing some and had unwrapped himself but wasn’t walking around. He had defecated on himself again and the stools were still bloody. I gave him water from a syringe and he would drink it, he had no desire for food though. He began to sleep again so I gave him about 30 minutes and began to try and give more water because during this period it seemed to be going straight through him and he was on and off defecating. He was worse when he woke up, I knew the end was near, he knew too, he was in pain and squirming. Having slight body contorting and strained meows, at this point there was nothing I could do for him but comfort him, I was keeping him as warm as I could and petting him, we played music for him and he calmed, he never vomited or seized. He peacefully passed. This result was never one I wanted, I truly feel as though more education needs to be given to the staff here along with some attitude adjustments for a few. They said “He’s gonna need some serious TLC”- no he needed some sort of medication because clearly he was sick. I have never been the type to leave a review let alone a bad one, this has broken me though. In 24 hours you can really bond with an animal especially one so young that needs all your attention. This never should’ve happened. Something wasn’t told to me, something was missed, and there wasn’t enough care from anyone to double check. There need to be better systems in place and more people need to stand up to this type of behavior and animal treatment. I have documentation of his entire 24 hours, bloody stools and all, however I will not be sharing those publicly out of respect for the others reading the reviews.

Horrible treatment of animals, when we walked in, we wanted to look at kittens. One particularly rude receptionist would not give any information about the kittens. When we picked one out, we consistently if there was any special diet, if the cat was sick or needed any medications upon arriving home with us, anything we needed to know etc. we even explained our hesitancy with adopting from a shelter becuase of a previous bad experience. As soon as we took the kitten in the car, it had bloody stool. It was supposedly 3 months old but severely underfed as were other cats in the room with it. The kitten died within 24 hours. We explained he had another cat at home and they knew where they were sending this kitten. We just wanted to add a sweet boy to our home but now our disinfecting the entire place because of how rapidly the kitten they gave us declined. He was dehydrated from the go and we did everything we could, including giving him hourly water in a syringe for him to drink. He was dirty and sick when he got him and just got worse. We’ve talked with others who have received animals with parvo or feline distemper from this shelter and sadly that hasn’t changed. Definitely don’t recommend, the July 3rd staff doesn’t care, they couldn’t even keep up with which cat was which and knew nothing about any vet procedures done which we gathered from how they talked amongst themselves. We documented our kittens 24 hour journey from the moment we got him, and I would post the condition we received him in on this review but it would be upsetting to see for a lot of people. I never typically post reviews but I will do what I can to make sure any funding is going to other shelters in Grayson county that treat their animals with dignity and respect.
Wanted to add: he was there long enough to have received his second round of vaccines. They had to either be incompetent or plain ignorant to give us a cat in that condition, despite our hesitancy of him being ready, and they had him for weeks.

Deceiving. Buildings look nice outside inside disgusting, smells horrible, poop on the walkway. No one to show you around or tell you about the dogs. Very disappointing

Total incompetence...staff are not aware of the procedures...before someone is allowed to work there...training is needed...also no greeting...from the few times I've been there. Will not return.

Had a great experience at TCAP Animal Shelter with my dog Jaxx. Got him neutered, microchipped, and a nail trim all in one visit. Prices were very affordable and reasonable. Staff was professional and provided quality care. Would definitely recommend for anyone looking for low-cost pet services.

Incredible, friendly staff. Extremely dedicated. Do everything they can for these animals. Any negatives others might perceive would be due to not getting enough funding or not having enough space. They’re fantastic. 10/10 would recommend adopting, fostering, or volunteering with them. They’ll help you with everything and really care. They make everything really easy.
I know the director after fostering with them and she is also so sweet and dedicated.
Blessed to have them in our community
