We were moving to this area about 4 months ago and needed a room for a couple of nights. The desk clerk was not nice to my wife. We had our small dog with us and the clerk kept going on about what they would do and charge us if we brought in a dog or there was damage. Nothing about hello, welcome to Best Value. Glad you’re here. Room was dirty and something growing in bathtub. Very humid. Spent one night and went to Brenham. Found a much better and friendlier place. There’s a reason you never see very many cars at this place.

It's a cheap hotel. Both in cost and in quality. The positives: it was cheap, easy to find on the highway, and had a better mini-fridge than expected. The negatives: Like other reviewers, our room was moist. The carpet was sticky. We had the AC on the whole time, which should have helped dehumidify the room; it didn't.Now let's address the real problems. There was no smoke detector in the room. There was a hole in the wall with wires sticking out and a plastic mount around it for a smoke detector, but no actual safety device. This may have been because of the evidence of a recent fire in the microwave oven (black on the top of the inside). The bathroom smelled of fertilizer and there was a small leak at the base of the toilet. It looked like someone had been caulking like crazy, but that won't help if the wax ring at the base of the toilet is compromised (which would also explain the fertilizer smell if they're on a septic system). Those were the health and safety issues; now the ones that were just annoying.Water pressure was terrible, but even with low pressure, water splashed right through the water-permeable "shower curtain."There were no signs or indications of WiFi. Advertised, but made inconvenient to customers. They have Do Not Disturb signs for the doors, but not in our room; one appeared on the door after we wrote our own and stuck it on the door. Do they not have enough signs for all the rooms? The continental breakfast was nothing but cereal and 4 slices of bread to put in a toaster, OJ, coffee. No waffles or biscuits and no indication that they would appear (there was no waffle iron on the counter). They advertise a breakfast, but clearly don't want anyone eating into their bottom line. These aren't issues of small town life; they're issues of a poorly run, poorly maintained property that was in violation of health and safety requirements for hotels in the state of Texas during our visit.Find somewhere else to stay.

**Pls read sidenote at end. Ty**I make this my place to stay when Im on the rd, every time. This location has a team of good ppl, & I appreciate that, nothing fancy, no gym here, has a pool, rooms are clean, & is located next to a Cefco. Tjis is why I keep coming back, I was cleaning my car's air intake, not realizing it took forever to dry. I put it outside to speed up process, Rebecca, the front desk hostess, saw what I was doing, & asked the caretaker to grab the leaf blower, she lent it to me to help out, it did help & I truly aporeciate thoughtful friendly hosts when Im away from home so shout out to Rebecca for going above & beyond & demonstrating what great guest service looks like! Rebecca also knows the area & can answer any questions guests may have. The owner, Harry, is down to earth, & great to chat with, a good guy. The caretaker is approachable & was on top of keeping everything maintained & running. The host the night I checked in was in training but was so welcoming & professional you'd never believe he was in training. This is whats important to me, clean rooms, yes, but also the attitudes of the hostess & employees that surround you when your away from home, because their attitude can make your time away pleasant or unpleasant. Rebecca, Harry, & the team there always make my stay pleasant & memorable.* Pets are a $50 deposit 1/2 the fee is returned to you at check out.**Sidenote** There are many mixed reviews on this hotel, along with many other small town hotels I have read reviews on. Keep in mind this is a small town, they do not have Marriotts or Hyatts in small towns, comparing them will leave you dissatisfied with your stay.. Majority of small town hotels such as this are straight forward, no frills, they are a place to rest, shower, grab a coffee & danish & get back on the road. Be realistic when you stay, & your stay will be much more agreeable.#safetravelsyall#staycoolyall

Rebecca who was on the night shift when we was staying there is the sweetest and most wonderful person I have every met. We stay at this hotel all the time and this was the very first time I met Rebecca. I was having trouble with the tv and she was so polite to come and help me get the tv working again and even showed me that in some of the rooms the switch is on the wall for the TV. I and my husband have had wonderful experiences when we stay here. I have to say they need more people like Rebecca working here.Thank you so much Rebecca for being so kind and so friendly and for helping me with this tv in are room!! 5 stars all the way for Rebecca!!!

This is probably the 10th time we stay in this hotel. The service is AMAZING! Continental breakfast, hospitality, very CLEAN ROOMS, staff that makes us feel like family, and newly remodeled! We wouldn't stay anywhere else. This is our home away from home!

Do not stay at this place. Humid environment, dirty place, smells really bad, horrible coffee and I would give them zero stars. It is graduation weekend and it’s 30 min away from College Station. We didn’t have another option due to the late arrival and early check out for the ceremony. Not worth paying $120 for this nasty place.Edit to hotel response.I agree that the area is beautiful, however the hotel is nasty and dirty as it shows in the pictures. Do not try to cover your irresponsibility to maintain the rooms clean with the surrounding areas. I was born and raised in the country so don’t tell me that your nasty carpet, humidity, unclean and dusty smell is the smell is fresh air. ??♀️

The phone did not work, the Wi-Fi did not work in the room, we had to use it in the lobby. The night lady who checked us in was very friendly, but the gentleman in the morning at breakfast was awful. I don't think you should call it a continental breakfast if all you have is waffles toast and cereal. You could at least throw a bowl of fruit out there, or have some yogurt! And, at 8:40 they were out of waffle batter and they would not make more! And he was very rude to my mother-in-law about making decaf coffee, which tasted terrible anyway!Rooms: The phone didn't work, and they did not provide you with the Wi-Fi password anywhere. I had to go ask and then there was an option for two different ones but it did not work in the room. We had to go into the lobby to get it to work

Rooms were disappointingly mediocre at best. Hard pillows, very old fixtures, and the place smelled heavily masked with room deodorant.Rooms: Not very comfortable sadly. Towels were so small that you couldn't really wrap up in them after a shower. Breakfast was complimentary but nothing was really offered other than cereal and coffee. Indoor spa was not working and pool had an odd smell.

Horrible place to stay the manager tries to charge extra fees for anything and everything. My husband has dog hair on his jacket from home. He charged us saying we snuck a dog in. Seriously we did not do that. They are strict and unwelcoming. We ended up being told never to come back because we argued over the extra $60 they tried to charge. We stay in hotels all of the time and never get harassed like that.

Nothing against the owners, but it's Somerville. If it wasn't for the lake, there would be absolutely nothing here. So the location would be bad anywhere. They are taking strides to recover from the previous management's lack of upkeep. The new manager really cool and is working to improve things.

This hotel is just disgusting and a joke. My friend and I arrived late one night after a hellish road trip. We were so exhausted and I was injured and limping. The desk clerk was in a room at the opposite end of the building from the front desk, so I had to limp all the way down there to get him, then limp all the way back. He barely spoke to me at all. We checked in, went to the room, and the very first thing we saw was a cockroach crawling on the wall. My friend killed it and we just collapsed in the beds. We were too tired to bother with trying to move. The room smelled awful, like mildew and sewage. There was a used wash cloth hanging over the shower curtain. The ceiling in the bathroom was mildewed. The carpet was filthy and the sheets smelled and had stains on them. The "breakfast" in the morning was waffles. Seriously, do not bother unless you just like sleeping in a roach motel. So gross.
