Excellent service, food, and drinks! my sister held her wedding here in town and when her caterer dropped out last minute they did everything they could to help her have a beautiful rehearsal dinner! even though they don’t cater they made us feel so welcome and taken care of! All of the food was delicious and high quality! The tap list was excellent and they knew how to pour a good beer! The cocktails were excellent and well balanced would definitely recommend them!

I think the best description of J5 would be modern rustic. When you approach the property it has an older, weathered, backyard patio vibe, but inside the decor is upscale, with deep rich colors and polished woodwork, splashed with progressive design elements (you can look up and see twinkling stars!). There are 3 garage doors (adding to the homelike atmosphere) that can be opened to pair the formal dining room with a huge deck to create an open dining feel for the whole restaurant. One of the owners introduced herself and told us the history of the restaurant which was enjoyable. The food was great, especially my burger which was cooked perfectly (medium rare) and was served on the most delicious bun! There's a full bar for cocktails before dinner. Definitely try out J5!

We ate at J5 Steakhouse on February 15, 2024. The food was fabulous! Our filets were cooked perfectly! The brussel sprouts were delicious as was the asparagus & potato mash. Our server was outstanding!!! We will be returning soon!Kid-friendliness: There is an outside play area for kids.

First timers, had liked what we had read about the restaurant and decided to give it a try for Date Night....We were seated in a cubicle of 4 high back booths in a corner, so really cannot comment on the ambiance because you were completely blocked off from the view, vibe, or energy of the restaurant, except for the other two guests, directly next to us....we know too much...Started with Artichoke Spinich Dip. Very underwhelming. Not Dip at all, more like a giant clump of cheese with a single artichoke in it. The Fried Pitas were unseasonably and either over cooked (burnt) or under cooked ( raw, grease soaked and chewy). My wife ordered the Prime Ribeye, Medium Rare, with a side of Asparagus. Came out seared but raw on one side. We sent it back and the next one came back Medium Rare PLUS. The grill marks were black lending to a burny taste throughout. The steak wasn't seasoned before it was cooked either. Her side of Asparagus was the most expensive 4 individual pieces of Asparagus soaked in butter I have seen yet. For the price point I was expecting maybe Purple or White, and a portion.I had the Crab and Shrimp stuffed Redfish with 4 pieces of Asparagus, and was less than impressed. The lemon, caper butter sauce overpowered the flavor of any other components of the dish...Chocolate Tort Cake was ice cold making it hard as a rock. It also tasted like the rest of the items kept in the cooler, likely unwrapped during service is the culprit. We were not once offered an apology for the poorly prepared steaks. Speaks volumes. This is a $100 per head restaurant. The food and service does not warrant the cost.

This will be our last visit. The only reason we did not rate 1star was the incredible service from Max .We drive fromhorseshoe bay and have been coming for over 8 years -the food used to be outstanding. The last 4 times we have been the food is terrible. First the spinach artichoke dip was gummy, stringy, cold and tasteless. The “prime” filet was like a breakfast steak. It was less than 1/2 inches thick ( more like a tough sirloin) and instead of med rate it was black on the outside and well done. The fillet used to be incredible -about an inch thick , tender, flavorful and never overcooked. The hash potatoes were cold and not very appetizing. So sad to see a great restaurant go downhill -none of our friends are going anymore but we were slow to give up. Tonight finished us.

Aside from getting a table next to the bathroom and the blinking light above our table (which they apologized for several times), this place is five stars! They were busy while we were there, but the service was still terrific, and the food was even better. We will be back. It's very trendy for a place this far from the city! In one word,... Excellent!

Lovely restaurant. However, the entire meal, particularly the steaks, were exceedingly too salty! The seasoning on our steaks were (on both occasions we ate here) far too salty.

J5 is kind of like our Cheers, except they don’t necessarily know our name. It doesn’t matter, though, because we’re so comfortable there. The food is consistent, the atmosphere is great (especially after the remodel), and the hospitality is delightful. I could eat the Brussels sprouts by the handful with the roasted cauliflower, NY strip, and the shrimp appetizer. As a matter of fact, I think it’s time to head back.

My filet was cooked to perfection. Our server was very polite and attentive. The Queso Fundido and French Onion Soup are musts!

The shrimp was great. The steak was not my favorite. Maeve was a great server and very attentive. Love the ambiance and lights inside and out. The butter rum drink was amazing ?
