If you have a lot of extra money and want to give it away, go get your car worked on here. After having 2 cars worked on here in the last year paying over $3000 to this place, I brought another car in for a simple “check engine light” check. This is a new (used) car that I was previously told needed O2 sensor. After the alleged diagnostic - we need $800 worth of work on the vehicle. After running this by a friend, they told me to go pick up the car - something is not right with that “diagnosis” It was going to be a simple “I’ll pass” on this job but I was told I was being charged for 1 hour of labor $155! I was not told there would be a diagnostic charge to begin with. After reviewing my previous receipts from this place, there were other questionable charges including $174 in “diagnostic parts” and 139.95 in “dianostic labor.” The owner or manager was very defensive about his charges and tried to this give this poor little uneducated woman a lesson in automotive repairs before leaving. I let him know that my time is also valuable and I won’t be back.

They most definitely stand behind their work. Not the cheapest, but they also know their stuff and stand behind what they offer. Nuff said.

Took my 2014 Chevy Silverado in there to get an inspection and 2 get a second opinion on why the ac would not work: they checked the ac and said that the last person who fixed it ghetto rigged,l it and the expansion ring bolts needs to be replaced And charged us 900+ dollars. I told them that was just temporary because we have already done that we just haven’t replaced the bolt yet because the whole dashboard needs to be taken apart, but they didn’t believe me I called them and told them that has nothing to do with it. The last guy that looked at it told me it 24 hour job? He told me whole dashboard needs to come out and that’s what I was told the gentleman that I spoke to on the phone once more at McCay‘s automotive . They told me that they guarantee their work and once the bolt comes in, everything should work and guess what? Once they got the ball and we brought the truck back in it didn’t work. they want another $2000 because it’s a 24 hour job to take the dashboard apart so the $900 plus job that they did didn’t work and they didn’t guarantee their work. I’m upset because the work they did we did twice and paid twice for and they swore up and down that’s what was wrong whenever I told them that that was just temporary. They wasted my time money and business pay because this is a company truck.

Paid $400+ to have "purge solenoid" and "PCV Valve" replaced to resolve an engine light issue that, according to my McKay's receipt, coded as "P0171 Fuel System Too Lean (B1)" and asked for the old parts to be put into the boxes the new parts that were replaced came in. Drove home, and next time started the car the engine light was back on. I had asked where the parts came from and Alan said from a wholesaler called Worldpac. When i checked the parts numbers shown on my receipt AND the parts numbers shown on the boxes, NEITHER showed my car as being the one the parts were made for, not by year or by model. One was an O'Reilly's part and the other showed as an API part, but Neither was good when i entered them into the Worldpac site Search Window, nor did any of the numbers on the boxes. When i went back in because of the light, Alan said he had told me that one of the sensors i had installed before going to McKay's he had tested and it wasn't working correctly. In fact, he told me he had tested the solenoid and it wasn't working correctly every time thus the need to replace it (went on about how many times he tested it and how many times it failed to open or close properly). What he said about the sensor was to ask where it was bought, and recommended having it replaced when i could with a sensor from the dealer because they are more reliable and last longer. So he lied about the parts (and did they even replace any?) and then lied to cover himself since the light immediately came back on by saying he told me something that he never said. Wow! Just Wow! He kept saying "stop right there, I told you the sensor was bad!" He never even checked the sensor because i specifically suggested he do so in case there was a problem and he shined a flashlight on it and said there was "not really any way to install it wrong and it looks ok." NEVER "tested" it and NEVER said it was not working right.
I waited all morning at the shop for parts and their installation and heard him repeatedly upsell customers who wanted oil changes to purchase a 5k mile oil change vs the "only 3k miles" they would get on "other synthetics" and pay $300+ vs the $95 oil change so they would not have to replace oil as soon, and he would do a mini-flush for them...whatever that means - probably just meant drain the old oil.
McKay's was recommended to me by someone whose recommendation i trusted. I plan to have words with that person about their suggestion because this is not a good place to take your car for work. This review system requires choosing a "Star" to be able to post, however i cannot in good conscience even give the place the one star i was forced to choose to let you know about how unethical and unprofessional McKay's practices are.

Went in for 44K oil change and scheduled maintenance. Good service and they explain what was done and why.
