I have been coming to Northwoods Pediatric for over 14 years. They have always taken the time to ensure my children’s health. They take the time to explain anything I do not understand. I highly recommend this staff of doctors to all parents.

Thanks for sending the referral. We enjoyed serving the 2 month old young boy today and just wanted to say thanks for allowing us to serve you and your precious clients. We have completed the workup requested and found appropriate reason for a 2 month follow up and recheck with a limited, focused repeat echo imaging here at Catch Cardiology. Thanks again for the referral. The TTE report should be faxed later today & or may appear in results tab of EMR. Cheers !

My experience with Northwood Pediatrics for the last 20 years has been amazing. I'm so happy to see her dedication and the time she spend with each patient. I have recommended her to my brother and some friends and they're so happy .

We absolutely love everything about Northwoods Pediatrics Center. It has been 21 years of coming here and although we have moved 45 minutes away and I have a couple children that have outgrown needing a pediatrician I wouldn’t change who my children see. They have see us through the good times and the bad times, they listen, and truly get to know the families.

Sometimes it's great, sometimes it's not. Sometime the receptionist are snobby and rude, sometimes they aren't. One day you'll get a great doctor, then next visit you might not.

Stay far away from this place! The Doctors are amazing like Dr. Pionawala and Dr. Thomas but the front office personnel especially the front office manager is so rude, condescending, and has no empathy whatsoever. The first major issue I had was when I went to take in my sick daughter who was having a high fever and vomiting, the front office manager told me I had a balance of $80 from last time and $105 for this time. I was so confused as the last visit was a yearly checkup which is completely covered by the insurance. She did explain it to me that it’s due to me having a consultation about my daughter’s allergy and Dr. Thomas calling in Zyrtec to control my child’s allergy. I said even with that, I don’t understand why the visit is so high? She immediately replied in the most degrading, ruthless manner that, if I don’t pay the full amount, I will not be able to see the Pediatrician. If it were her child, would she be okay with such treatment? I decided to call the insurance company and found out that my secondary insurance was not added which another front personal took care of. There was no apology from the front office manager. I still decided to stay with this office because Dr. Thomas is so kind and knows my daughter’s medical history and has been taking care of her for the past 4 years! Sadly, Dr. Thomas don’t work there no more but Dr. Poonawala for the 2920 location is equally kind and very knowledgeable so, we decided to go to the 2920 location. Dr. Poonawala treated my daughter for possible strep and wrote in antibiotics and said if she doesn’t feel fully better by Wednesday, call the front office for an extension for the doctors note but if she is not better by Thursday, come in for further evaluation. (My daughter tested negative for both strep and flu but since her tonsils were very red and inflamed, Dr. Poonawala wrote a prescription for antibiotics). Well, Wednesday came and my daughter ended up with diarrhea from the antibiotics as that has happened in the past due to her ongoing GI issues and because antibiotics kill both good and bad bacteria. I know to give probiotics and electrolytic drinks like Gatorade to control the diarrhea. This is where the front office failed miserably. When I messaged, Dr. Poonawala, I got a reply from one of the Nurses saying, Dr. Poonawala said having diarrhea is not a reason for me to keep my daughter from going to school. I know for a fact that Dr. Pooniwala will never tell a parent what’s a reason for a child to stay home. I replied via the portal that Dr. Pooniwala can look at my daughter’s medical history to see why having diarrhea is a valid reason for my daughter to stay home. I was thinking it could be a possible misunderstanding but then, the front office lady, most likely the front office manager called me saying, Dr. Pooniwala cannot write me a doctor’s note and if needed, I can bring her in to treat the diarrhea. I really wished the Doctor or the Nurses would have called me! I told the front office manager that, I know for a fact that Dr. Pooniwala will never say that, my reason for my daughter to stay home due to having diarrhea is not valid and whoever who said that is very uneducated to make a statement like that! Immediately, the front office manager used that as an opportunity to be condescending saying, “you think the nurse is uneducated so, I will let her know that! Since she is so uneducated, I will tell another nurse to message you back.” I am like, no! Don’t twist my words! My point was it’s an uneducated statement to make to a parent that, the Doctor believed that having diarrhea is not a reason for a parent to have the child stay home. She was using an opportunity to be thuggish towards me and argue for no reason whatsoever! Don’t ever dictate what I the parent believe is a reason for a child to stay home! I know no Doctors or Nurses would ever say that! The front office is the most rudest staff I ever met in my life!

If I were to rate only the doctor who treats my son I would give 5 stars just for that reason we are still there but today they really made our day very very difficult, first I asked for the vaccine records to be printed and they denied them because it is sensitive information and can only be sent by fax which in my opinion makes no sense because it is my own information and I should have the right to access it so I wonder if it's just that they don't want to print or help you and second they had the wrong pharmacy and third the pharmacy tried to contact to use a different medicine and you have to beg for help because they don't answer the phone, it's very frustrating. I understand that they have a lot of work and I appreciate what they do for the children but if only when you ask for help they were kinder or apologized for mistakes instead of making excuses to not take responsibility it would be another story.
