Review: Hyatt Place Houston/Sugar Land – A Security and Safety Nightmare
My recent stay at Hyatt Place Houston/Sugar Land was not only appalling but dangerous. As a diabetic, my syringes are essential for my survival. To my shock and horror, I discovered that a member of the cleaning staff had stolen my diabetic syringes from my personal belongings, which were stored in a closed suitcase. This wasn’t just an inconvenience – this was a life-threatening situation caused by blatant disregard for guest safety.
It is beyond comprehension that a member of the hotel's staff would rummage through my suitcase, invade my privacy, and steal something I depend on to live. When I reported this egregious violation, the hotel staff dismissed it, acting as though this was an isolated incident and not something to be concerned about. Their attitude was indifferent, offering no apology, resolution, or meaningful investigation into the matter. They downplayed the severity, casually mentioning that this had “never happened before.” Well, it happened to me, and it jeopardized my health.
I was forced to check out early—9 days early—because the trust was completely gone. I could no longer feel safe in an environment where my health was put at risk, and my privacy violated. Incredibly, when I informed the staff of my early departure, they didn’t even bother to ask why I was cutting my stay short. No concern, no questions, no follow-up – just a cold, indifferent process as if nothing had happened.
Hyatt Place clearly lacks the necessary security measures and staff integrity to protect their guests. This goes far beyond poor customer service – this is negligence that endangered my life. I had to scramble to find another hotel while dealing with the stress of replacing my stolen medical supplies in a different state.
I strongly advise any potential guests to think twice before staying here. Your belongings—and in my case, your health—may not be safe.
Noteworthy details: Theft of items in your suitcase.

Nice room. Wish it had a microwave. They do offer complimentary hot breakfast. The room also has a mini fridge that got really cold. The location is walkable to the shopping center behind it.

NEVER AGAIN! I’m a travel nurse that’s visiting family in Houston and I decided to stay here for one night until my airbnb was ready and this was the worst stay that I’ve had here. I usually stay here while visiting so that I can have my own space but this will be the last time I stay here. I checked in a little after 11pm on 10/6 and was asked if I wanted to a late checkout of 2pm the next day which worked out perfectly, I thought. Firstly, there were only about 8 channels working on the television, the rest said “no signal”. Secondly, around 11:30am I was on a conference call with the do not disturb sign on my door handle and the housekeeping supervisor decided to bang on my door shouting “HELLO.” I had to place my call on hold and let her know that I had a 2pm checkout. Then, about an hour later another housekeeper walked into my room while I was changing clothes and I had to shout to her to leave and again I had a 2pm checkout! This was the most embarrassing and most unprofessional experience ever by Hyatt and I’m done.

We recently had an event in Houston Sugarland and reserved 23 rooms for our family and friends from August 9th-11th and a few that were checked in 3-4 days earlier. Our stay was perfect, largely due to the impeccable customer service of Ms Davis at front desk. She was extremely professional and friendly. She made checking in and out a breeze.Greeted everyone with a smile and by the time we left she had memorized a lot of our names. This kind of customer service is extremely rare today.Hotel was clean, rooms were also very clean and breakfast was satisfactory.Ms Davis was amazing not only with us but also everyone else staying there. We will definitely come back largely due to Ms Davis making our stay so stress free.

Hotel confirmation confirmed early check in. Told we couldn’t because it was a Friday. Pregnant wife waited hours for the room while I left to work.
Terrible service. Courtyard is a better bet.

They have rooms with mold and it gave my family terrible headaches and bloody noses while sleeping in them. We felt a lot better when we left the room. The management needs to be more flexible and allow people to change rooms when this happens instead of of penny wise, pound foolish. This is a health hazard and a hotel liability.

DO NOT BOOK THIS HOTEL!!! I made an mistake and booked a room with 2 queens at this place. During checking in, I was told that my room got switched to a king bed and I would be refunded partially for the difference in 10 days. I have called the hotel 3 times for the promised refund and the front desk kept saying that they have issued it and I should wait another 10 days. It has been 1 month and I still have not received any refund. Worst experience ever! Room was also very dirty. Stay away from this scammer.

Their pool is not too big and the room I stayed in was small but their handicap room is quite large so if you want a large room then you can request that one. Not to mention, they have decent complimentary breakfast as well.
