Slow, but customer service was awesome

At 7:15 pm May 24, 2024 Friday night, my daughter & I drove across town to go to DT on AR Blvd. We pulled up, it had began raining hard so we waiting it was about 7:08 pm & it slacked up for a moment & we hurried to the front door &a female lady locked the door & refused to let us in after we had crossed the parking area & were about 5-6 feet from the front door?! The storm began pounding us with rain, lightening hitting all around & as I approached the door i could not hear her words bc she was inside but her mouth was moving alot? & shaking her head quite hard?! other cars were in the parking & we saw people not employees in the store shopping. The Online website states the store closes at 10 pm; I think after Covid they close at 9 pm; BUT IT WAS no later than 7:15 when we arrived! at the front doir…no signs on the door; all lights were on inside & outside , ppl were checking out with buggies & bags…idky we were refused to get in to shop? So we turned around in shock?? & hurriedly returned to our SUV in the hard rain/lightening & as I pulled out I saw people coming out of the front door with bags (approximately at 7:20 pm? And more people near the register/inside as we drove by…). Not wearing Dollar Yree employee shirts…
So apparently the registers were working for ppl to ck out with bags…electricity was on…. Idky we were treated so rudely/disrespectfully and it was VERY UNPROFESSIONAL…..we had severe thunderstorms it was horrible weather conditions but no reason for the store to close early, no signs no apologies or any type of respect…& the lightening was hitting the ground as we left…
58 years old & i’veNEVER been LOCKED OUT & denied safety any where…..way nefore closing time…
Idk who this African AmericanFemale is? She is, about 5’4, i believe she had her hair in a ponytail, never seen her before…its usually an older short white lady with short white hair that smokes when we go in….she-is always nice…. but this person that locked us out in this horrific weather…needs to be reprimanded…she could have opened the door & yelled they were closed or Closing? Prior to-us getting right to the door ! Put up a SIGN we would have seen? we have been loyal respectful customers since day 1 ….very very upset this took place! & my very thick long curly hair was sopping wet, all of my clothing, my feet, nothing I had on was dry after this incident! & my daughter was soaked to the bone as well….never heard of closing 2 hours early bc of heavy rain? Very very upset & disappointed! At the least we should have been allowed to come in for safety until it slacked up & lightening was not as bad? IDKY the ppl leaving couldn’t wait til it was not as bad either? Bc I know they got soaked too! & it was dangerous with the lightening…just to add my daughter has metal in her wrist from a severe injury she is 30% more apt to be hit by lightening than before according to her surgeon at LSUS…what happened to caring about your customers???

I love this store but I forgot to leave my review an employee yelled through the store another employee was taking a bowel movement not in those words pretty lady unprofessional attitudes yelled it multiple times like it was funni it's dispicable and just tacky to me

Self check outs mostly… and they are very slow! It froze and I had to go to regular register to have my stuff rang up a second time! Don’t go if you are in a hurry!

I asked for help with receiving something from the top shelf they just looked at each other until one of the ladies helped me the other ones had an attitude. The manager I guess is the gay man with the loud music coming from a phone or portable radio followed me around the store staring in my face . I do not steal . I felt very disgusted and disrespected.

This store is the rudest and it says they close at nine but at 853 the lady meet me at the door and said they were closed pretty sure the lady must not know the store hours and she was pushing another woman out of the door as well. Very sad when it says 9 but the employee takes it upon herself to close early
