BOOOO to FUMC & Mary O' Farrell. I went to Mary's closet at United First Methodist Church Tuesday afternoon. I told Mary that I was in need of house wares, toddler clothes, dishes, pots and pans, and toddle toys. She told me everything was free, and that I could get whatever I needed no limits. (as she advertises on her facebook.) I spent a hour in the basement at United First Methodist Church gathering what few clothing, shoes, house items, toys, dishes, bowls, cups, silverware, and cleaning supplies that I was in need of and cleaning up before I left to show some appreciation. Only to be attacked by Mary who became enraged when she saw what I had. She said it was too much stuff after telling me it was all free, and that I could get as much as I needed. She then proceeded to tell me to pick some stuff to leave. I asked her to give me a few minutes, because I needed to re-sort the items I had chosen. I mentioned to her that she said there wasn't a limit, and explained that I had previously mentioned that I needed home and kid items, and reminded her that she had told me "Get whatever you need, no limits." She then told me again "There isn't a limit, but you're rediculous, and it's ugly." I picked some things to leave behind (all the house items. (Cannisters for flour, spoons, cups, dishes, bowls, pans, educational toddler games, Tupperware, some Christmas items, a rug, and cleaning supplies.) I just wanted to get clothes & some games for my daughter. I then asked her "Is that enough to leave? Will that make you happy?" She then yelled "No! And since you're ugly you can leave it all!" She then called me several degrading (ridiculous, ugly n lazy) names in front of everyone there, including my small child. My child was with me when this happened. I spent the next few minutes being bullied by Mary, publicly degraded and shamed and turned away because I had picked too many items for my child. I explained that I am a stay at home mother, who works in my home everyday, and that my BF works to support us financially and that we have little to no money for these kinds of things. She didn't care At ALL. She pushed me down the hall, pulling a box away from me with so much force that a glass fell off the top and broke right next where my daughter was sitting in her stroller. I tried to reason with her... Mary hoards free donations made to the church, then she judges based on appearance who should have what. Free donations to FUMC should not be a Mary's personal storage closet to discriminate and shame hard working families, kids, women, children, and men, etc... She also threatened to call the police on me. When I called and talked to the pastor about this issue. He called Mary a sweetheart, said he would "talk to her", and said I was lying, that it was my word against hers. He dishonestly declared I was threatening him when I let him know I would make my experience publicly known if there was no corrective action taken in this matter. Then he hung up on me, and has yet to answer the phone again. If you donate your used kids items please do not donate them to FUMC or Mary's closet, where families and kids face apperance based discrimination, and Mary's closets violent tantrums, and abusive behavior. Stop donating to Mary's closet. Donate your used baby items to the Pregnancy Resource Center!!! PRC has completely professional staff. The rules are the same for everyone. The ladies there are caring, kind and super friendly. If you go in and meet with a counselor on the last Wednesday of the month you can get $10 free mommy bucks to spend in their mommy store. They also offer parenting classes for mommy bucks that you can spend in their store. They have tons of awesome, good condition baby stuff and you & your kids will not be bullied, shamed, assaulted, or judged based on looks. I am outraged that Mary would treat my child and I completely heartless as she did. I'm even more shocked that the pastor of FUM
