Coming from another state grocery shopping... is always an experience. I'll give this store a comment as it reminded me very much of shopping at the Berkeley Bowl in Berkeley , California. The selection was vast and the variety was very impressive.
Service agents were awful kind as wellđ»

In 2018, I gave this HEB location 5 stars. The location of the store is ideal and the store is typically well-maintained. There's a great variety of fresh produce, deli meats, and other groceries and the service is generally great. However, over time, the quality of the store has gone down, and the last time I was there the quality of the produce was especially appalling. The melons had extensive mold on them, and the vine tomatoes also had mold. It looked like the produce had been sitting there for a while. The meat quality was also not up to par. There's something wrong with the cutting or storing of the meat there. I found two different pieces of meat that were labeled as having come from the same day. However, they were cut differently, smelled different, and tasted different. There is no reason why two pieces of meat from the same day should have such a dramatic difference in texture, scent, and taste.
It's very sad that this once-great grocery store has gone downhill, especially since the store is in such a prime location. It's definitely a shame that this location isn't more actively managed and maintained so that it can maintain the standards that you expect from an HEB.

đđ°đ„© H-E-B: A Local Favorite with Big Flavors⊠and Even Bigger Red Flags đ„©đ°đ
Let me start by sayingâI love H-E-B. Thereâs no denying this Texas-born grocery giant offers a unique shopping experience you canât get anywhere else. From the locally sourced products to the H-E-B exclusives you wonât find on any other shelf, the store delivers on flavor, quality, and variety. The bakery? Top-notch. The donuts are dangerously good, and the cakes? Not only tastyâtheyâre often mini masterpieces.
Butâand this is a Texas-sized butâthe customer service experience can be wildly hit or miss. Some team members are friendly, helpful, and make you feel right at home. Others? Youâd swear they were doing you a favor by even making eye contact.
Case in point: Maria. Rude, dismissive, and confrontational like I interrupted her day by simply existing. Frankly, I am in total utter shock and disbelief that H-E-B has employed her and allowed this type of behavior to occur. And when I brought the issue to not one, but TWO managers? Their response was the definition of checked out! No urgency, no understanding, no basic customer service skillsâlet alone management-level professionalism. Itâs hard to feel valued when leadership is just as uninterested as the problem employee.
Now letâs talk about the products:
đ„© I once picked up a beautiful ribeye steak priced around $12 and some change. Great deal, right? Until I got home and saw my receipt⊠almost $30 charged. I had to drive all the way back to get it fixed. Thankfully, they corrected the error, but thatâs not a small mistake. Possibly a barcode mishap, but stillâhow often does this happen without people realizing?
đ As much as I love the single-serve slices of cake (theyâre indulgent and just the right size), Iâve caught multiple instances where they were marked at the price of a full cake. Thatâs a pricey surprise if youâre not paying attention at checkout. How many people are getting overcharged and never know?
đ§ And hereâs the real concern: expired cold items, especially in the lunchmeat section. Iâve seen it happen more than once. Nothing ruins a grocery trip like checking the date on your ham and realizing it shouldâve been tossed days ago. For a store that prides itself on freshness, this should never be happening.
âš On the bright side, the store is usually clean, organized, and easy to navigate. But when customer service, pricing accuracy, and product rotation all feel inconsistentâit leaves you wondering: Whatâs happening behind the scenes that we donât see?
â
Bottom line: H-E-B still offers great products and local charmâbut make sure you check the dates, double-check your receipt, and donât be afraid to speak up when things arenât right. And H-E-B, if youâre reading this: itâs time to step up the training, clean up the communication, and make sure every customer walks out feeling taken care ofânot taken advantage of.

This is probably one of their best stores. Usually the fruits and vegetables are great. H-E-B has a great assortment of ?seafood. Fresh bakery products and including breads. Good wines selection and cheeses to go with it. Nice prepared food select especially if you are eating for one. Flowers ?look great too.

Iâm convinced that this location tells its employees to give the curbside customers the products that are either expired or near the expiration date. I received salad dressing that expired 3 months ago !!!! This is not the first time! Iâve received rotten apples , lettuce , mangos, broccoli and many other items over the past year. Just because I opt for curbside doesnât mean that I deserve the expired food. Curbside is more convenient for me because I have a small child and often need to make quick store runs. I WARN CURBSIDE SHOPPERS TO BEWARE OF EXPIRED FOOD FROM THIS LOCATION.

HEB Market Street has the most amazing customer service! The workers go above and beyond to assist customers with any need.
I was checking out 2 days after Hurricane Beryl hit the area with a full basket of groceries. The power suddenly went out and they were unable to scan the rest of my groceries. A manager came up and said, maâm, your groceries are on us today. I was like, what? Really? He proceeded to tell all those in line that their groceries would be bagged up to take homeâŠ. Courtesy of HEB! What awesome community support! Thank you, HEB, for taking great care of our community!!

HEB Market Street used to be a very nice, clean market. Lately it is looking pretty ratty and worn. It also looks like they are having problems with their refrigeration storage. Extras of those all over the place. Still my store to shop; it is just less pleasant.

I was REALLY impressed by this location. I donât normally shop at this particular HEB. I was looking for a cookie cake for my daughterâs birthday and every cookie cake was pre-decorated for Motherâs Day. The bakery manager went out of her way to not only get a cookie cake, but ask me how Iâd like it decoratedâŠall in the middle of what looked like a very busy shift. Then the very friendly checker and bagger helped unload my cart and were the most friendly folks I have encountered in a while! All around such a great experience!
