I have a Sophomore and a Junior that are currently attending BNHS, as well as one child at the middle school. I can honestly say that they are getting an excellent education in a safe environment. Some of the sports teams are HIGHLY political, but I don't fault the school administration for that... some coaches are just that way. Dr. Myers does a marvelous job communicating with parents and I cannot imagine how difficult it must be to try and please the parents in this community. I'm a former teacher (different district) so I have something to compare BNHS to. Homework seems light to me, but my kids are definitely prepared for college and beyond since they're taking advantage of the AP, On-Ramp, and other supplementary programs that this school offers.

I went here and graduated class of 21'. Allow this to be a warning! Don't let the beautiful architecture fool you! The teachers truly don't care about the students learning the material. I'm currently in my freshman year of college to become an mechanical engineer. Two examples of this would be Lynette Llewelyn's (pre-Ap-pre-calculus) class, she was just a flat out horrible teacher, and unfortunately it's the students that want to do math related majors in college that really pay for it. Next would be Holly Duncan (pre-Ap-Chemistry) she was a great teacher and had her friend working as a student aid in the class but half way through the year she said screw it and retired at Christmas break, her friend who was studying to become a HISTORY teacher became our new chemistry teacher. She tried her hardest but no one in that chemistry class should have passed, our grades were so inflated with every curve so that she wouldn't get fired. To end on a positive note David McRitchie (AP-Macroeconomics) is a phenomenal teacher and the school also has Pizza Hut and Subway so you don't always have to eat the typical cafeteria slop!

Their office practices could drastically improve. And their office staff could benefit from taking customer service lessons. As typical of a school, they have no idea how what they do affects people who operate in the real world. Life is not a textbook nor does life play by your textbook guidelines. If you want to prepare students for life after school, try operating more like the business you are instead of a police environment for minors.

I don't normally do reviews. But my child was here for a year. We had to leave due to severe anxiety and depression issues (which she never had before even at a large high school in a different state). Academically the school is ok. The teachers are variable - there were some great teachers and some not so great. Likely true of any large high school. It is very difficult to make friends here, and there is a distinct element of classism and racism. My child had to listen to racist jokes on the bus, went through a bomb threat and tried to join clubs but most of the clubs on the website either don't exist in reality or are a front. We were told how friendly the school is and the kids look out for one another - that is a lie. I can understand the anxiety and depression comments. My child is doing much better in a different school where they actually do care about the kids and teachers know the kids they teach.

My review is based ONLY on the atmosphere I feel when visiting as a parent. I cannot speak to the atmosphere in individual classrooms, but I have visited the main office, the attendance office, and the academic counselor's offices many times. The atmosphere is always genuinely relaxed. If they were struggling to give the office an appearance of a relaxed feeling, I wouldn't be fooled. It has been genuinely friendly. I'm not talking about American, superficial politeness. I don't mean the fakey, hypocritical stuff people put on in public. I mean that the sweetness and kindness with which staff receives parents is real. It's part of who they are as people. It's a joy to interact with good, old-fashioned, awesome Texans whenever I have to pop in at the school. Makes me proud to live in the district.

My oldest graduated from here and my younger two should as well. Really enjoy the school; they just need to be stronger on the traditions and spirit but that sometimes is what you get with newer schools in the larger suburbs.

This school is not great at all. I went here for 2 years and got bullied a lot. i suffer with severe depression and anxiety and i went for help and all they did was send me home. Like how does that help? Oh yea you will get bullied if you are middle class or lower.
