Best mechanic ever. Never gave up on fixing my car until he was SATISFIED. I would definitely bring my car here in future if needed. I would definitely recommend anyone to bring their car here for repairs. Great customer service.

I recently visited AAMCO after noticing what felt like transmission slipping in my truck during more aggressive acceleration, like when trying to pass or quickly get up to speed. Concerned, I searched for transmission repair shops and saw AAMCO—a familiar name from my childhood—which gave me some confidence in visiting them to see what was going on.
When I arrived, the lot was packed, with only one available parking spot. I went inside, waited a few minutes, and was greeted by a technician who listened as I explained the issue. He took my keys, handed them to a tech, and had me fill out the usual paperwork. While I waited, he checked my truck with a code reader and came back to explain the results. He mentioned that there was an error code indicating one of the cylinders wasn’t firing, likely due to a bad spark plug. He explained how, with my 2.7L Ecoboost engine, losing a cylinder would create a noticeable loss of power, making it feel like a transmission issue. This made a lot of sense to me, and I appreciated his honesty in offering this insight.
After some time, the tech came back and, unfortunately, the initial spark plug diagnosis was ruled out. The technician then explained that the issue was indeed with the transmission and recommended a full rebuild, quoting a cost of around $9,700. I decided against the repair and left.
Curious, I went to O’Reilly Auto Parts, used their code reader, and received the same initial error code, confirming the misfiring cylinder. I took my truck to another shop, requested a tune-up for $410, and that fixed the issue entirely.
If AAMCO can explain why the misdiagnosis happened, I’d be happy to reconsider this review. But as it stands, I was initially hopeful about their approach, only to find out later that a costly transmission rebuild wasn’t necessary.

Writing a good review for anything is harder than taking time to write a bad one. With anger, one would feel motivated to tell everyone about their problems. When you get good service you are less inclined to go out of your way to write a review because your problem has been taken care of.
I am taking this time to write this review because of the treatment received by this business and its people. Consider me a very happy customer and this is the reason.
My F-150 had many problems in the past. Leaking transmission, a blocked valve, a dead cylinder, and to top it all off, it was driven in to very deep water. Insurance would have waterlogged it and totaled it. I would not have gotten what my truck is actually worth and with prices today that means a lot.
Daniel is the first person I met as I walked into the establishment. Expecting that I would be forced to replace my truck with another used version, I was reluctant to explain in full detail my issue. Daniel, Branson, and myself decided it would be best to replace the engine and transmission. The price they gave me for this job seemed high, but after some research on the matter, I would pay the same for a truck with 170k miles. In this case I have a rebuilt engine with 0 miles and a very, close to new, transmission.
All of the staff is very respectful and had shown appreciation for my business at the same time as getting to know me as a person. You do not get this kind of personal care in many places. Because of this, if there is anything I am unable to do myself, this is the only shop I will bring my vehicles too from here on.
Thank you,
Daniel, Branson, and the team!!!

The guys at Tyler AAMCO have been nothing but courteous and helpful to me. they have gone out of their way to help me several times now with great pricing and great service. Daniel, Brendon, Lee and keyshawn have all worked hard to see me taken care of.
my transmission replacement went smooth and they went out of their way to help me with other things on my 20 year old car.

Took my truck in to see about a shifting issue. These guys could’ve sold me whatever they wanted because I make my living with this truck and need it to perform correctly. They were honest and recommended that I talk to my tuner before pulling the trigger on new parts. I appreciate the honorable service they offer as well as the friendly attitudes of all of the staff, and will be back next time something needs to be done!

My car has been in this shop since August (for the 3rd time) the story changes every day. I would have been better off to take my car to the junkyard. They have actually caused more damage and do not seem to have competent mechanics. Save yourself some grief and choose another shop
