I have rented from this storage for the past 4 months. When I go to get my belongings out my king size mattress was wet and molded from where it had been raining inside of the unit. When I call to tell Renee(the manager) all she said was how do I kno it wasn't that way when you put it in there. Common sense I would NOT put anything in storage that wasn't any good. I took pictures and everything and she still said its nothing I can do but remove it so you want get charge for the next month. REALLY RENEE!!! She stated I can call someone to have it cleaned but that's the only thing I can tell you. I really don't understand if u paying to keep your things in good condition why are they not responsible if it get damage?? Someone please give me some feed back. I only gave it one star because that is the only way it can get posted.

We had been with colonial self storage for 2 years. Always paid our bill on time. Never any issues from us. One day we came back to our unit and our lock was off. Walked in and 2 TVs, a leather recliner chair, a wedding dress, Air Force dress blues, and an Xbox (which we discovered later) were stolen. We tried calling and going to the office multiple times that weekend and couldn't get a hold of anyone to ask about it. 2 weeks later we came back in town to clear it out and tried calling again to talk to the office. They answered this time. We informed them of what happened, and asked if any other theft had occurred. The manager claimed no, after arguing with me about the wrong unit, saying my unit only had one door over and over. We had a 10X30 with a garage door on one side and regular door on the other. Same unit for 2 years. Multiple times she told me my unit only had one door. I finally just laughed and said I'll show you when we arrive. Finally she realized she was looking at the wrong number. When we arrived I noticed our row of units suddenly had a majority of them with the same chateau brand round lock on it which I did not remember ever seeing before. In the past, I had made a note of the fact that I thought it was odd not many had locks or the few that did just had the old pad locks on them. I mentioned this to the manager, and she dodged it by pointing out the "few" that still had the old pad locks and said "see not all of them have the round locks". At this point she still never apologized to us for the theft or offered any amount of kindness or consideration for our lost items. Our bill for the month had just gone through 4 days prior and since we were cleaning it out due to our items being stolen we asked if we could get it prorated. She said they don't do that. (Which is typical of their policy, yes. I mentioned I understood that to her. Still no show of remorse or desire to keep our business or even offer a small refund for the theft which happened on their watch). We packed up our truck with the rest of our items and ended up finding the lock in the back of the unit which had been cut with bolt cutters. I took it to the office so she could see and have proof. I mentioned again it seemed odd that someone would come in with bolt cutters and only steal from one unit. She still denied that anyone else had mentioned theft. Maybe she was telling the truth, but the facts seem stacked against her. She even had the gall to try and convince me no one would steal a wedding dress. And then tried to tell us maybe a friend of ours broke into it. (We explained to her we live in Austin and only my parents are in the area). My husband was able to get her to admit they never close the gate at night which is supposed to be closed and locked at 9pm. We probably have rights to sue with that admittance. BEWARE! Great prices, if nothing happens :) And do not let them say they don't recognize our name. This is a review for Colonial Self Storage in Tyler TX behind Fastenal, Valero Gas & Valvoline. This occurred a while ago but Review is as it happened and management has still not given any compensation.
