My appointment with Nene at Beau Beauty And Braiding in Universal City was at 3:30pm. Nene didn't get started on my hair until 5:50pm. No contact in advance because she said she didn't have my number. She wouldn't change the price for the service because she said it took her 4 hours to retie my microloc'd hair. Sadly she didn't consider the inconvenience to me, the customer. She seemingly disregarded the sign on her wall that says $10 late fee for every 15 mins late. Completely ridiculous....I recommend you consider other options before scheduling with her.

This place is not for children. They had some type of African soap opera on with sexual dialogue and scenes. I had to ask not once but twice if they could put on something child appropriate. After the first time I asked, they changed it to something else for a while; then seemingly turned it back to the same type of show because I continued to hear sexual dialogue. They never ended up changing the tv after my second request. Nene also wouldn’t allow me to follow my minor child to the wash basin which is ridiculous, but I was willing to let it slide. Once she started to flat iron my daughter’s hair and I asked if she had applied heat protectant and what kind, Nene became very defensive, asked me if I always ask so many questions (which I absolutely do and always will when it comes to my child) and refused to tell me what protectant she applied. As a paying customer, I have the right to know what is being applied. As a stylist, you should be happy and willing to ease the concerns of any customer if you have nothing to hide. It was giving shady especially considering she didn’t want me observing the entire process. Customer service skills are a key part of being a stylist and Nene is lacking in this area among others. Apparently she didn’t want to keep our business because being stubborn is more important to her. Don’t waste your time going here and save your child the trauma of encountering this individual and her establishment!!!!

Braids were completely uneven. Ends were unraveling, overall terrible experience. was very rude when I sent pictures and ask for refund. Never again

They did an amazing job on my hair. I got Knotless braids. They made sure the braiding hair matched my hair perfectly and communicated very well and didn’t take long at all! Very neat and not a bad price . I will be going back!

Have tournament this weekend and needed my hair braided back so it would be out of my face. Found Nene’s from a quick google search and saw all the raving reviews and knew she would rock it!
