Off the beaten path non-descript little town with an absolutely beautiful, classy restaurant and bar. Tiny room, but private porch and very comfortable. If you are passing through El Paso divert and try this place. Wife had the salmon, and I had a BBQ pork chop with raspberry sauce. GREAT wine and cheap. FUN!!!

This was a favorite place when we last tried in 2022. Unfortunately it was terrible this time. Service was poor food was mediocre and not as described. The shrimp or prawns in the shrimp cocktail were definitely previous frozen and limp. There was supposed to be avacado and there was no avacado. The margarita my husband ordered was almost brown in color and so bitter it was undrinkable. All women running the place and not a good thing. Really hate to post such a negative review but it was apparent no one I told cared at all.

Yea, what a great place to go. Walked into the restaurant about 8 pm last Tuesday after driving for 10 hours. Tired, hungry. Seemed like a nice place inside. I knew we were in trouble when we saw they were packed. Only about 10 tables maybe. My eyes were a little sore. Walked up to the checkin to see about the wait, but no one there. Lot's of people hanging around for a seat, I guess. Maybe the food was good, but we were too hungry. Had enough and walked out. Found some supper down the street. Then went to sleep. Don't think I'll bother about going back.

We placed an phone order for pickup as we had our dog with us and were told it'd be ready in 30-40 minutes. I go to pick up after 40 minutes. Waited in the lobby 10 minutes and was told the order will be right out out. Another 15 minutes of waiting and no order in sight.. Finally gave up and left!

Had dinner here while staying at the Hotel. Food was decent, drink was wonderful- tried the pistachio fried steak and the raspberry chipotle pork chop. Mashed potatoes were fantastic! The main dishes were okay, but not the best we have had. Wonderful warm rolls came with the meal. The west Texas margarita was spicy and delicious! Waitress was friendly and attentive. Nice meal and probably the best in town!

The food we had was delicious. Margaritas was great and a perfect treat after climbing Guadalupe Peak!

Huge disappointment. Restaurant closed and no breakfast. Hotel isn't cheap and no amenities. Won't be back.

Just went to the bar. Locals and staff are amazing and very welcoming! Guacamole is ridiculously good. Can't wait to go back!

I specifically stayed here instead and f driving only 2.5 hours more to El Paso because of previous great stays. Unfortunately, my stay on 12/12/23 was not good: the room, #248, was musty and had been sprayed with an overpowering disinfectant to try to cover up. The warmer the room got the worse the smells. I had dinner and ordered their signature pistachio crusted steak. When a dish like this comes out from the kitchen in under 10 minutes it's been sitting cooked and is not cooked to order. The potatoes were cold and the two asparagus sticks were woody tasting. Very, very disappointing. I left early, 3:34 am, because I couldn't breathe.

Had a wonderful stay on a cross country drive. While we stay in some national brands on long drives, they’re not memorable. Hotel El Capitan is, and in all the right ways. It’s warm and inviting, friendly, super clean, and feels like you’re in west Texas. Our room was so comfortable and had a beautiful little patio. We had a wonderful dinner in the restaurant, where everyone seemed to care about our day’s drive. And the hotel is dog friendly…icing on the cake. Treat yourself to this special place if you’re in the area!

The hotel is an excellent renovation of a 1930 era hotel. Updates such as the elevator make staying there a pleasant step back into time. The restaurant offers fine dinning and a good wine selection. Our room was clean and the bed was comfortable. I highly recommend staying in a room with a balcony. What truly makes the hotel a Southwest Texas oasis is the way hotel management and staff treat their guests. From check-in to check-out, hotel staff treat guests knowing that the hotel is in the hospitality business, not the lodging business.

Food and service were a 10. The raspberry pork chops was outstanding. Cooked and seasoned to perfection. Full bar, as well as bar seating. Decor was well done. The area needs some help in terms of attractions. The restaurant is well worth the visit.Rooms: We just had dinner on the road so no review

Trying to be a little healthy I had the house salad with grilled salmon on top. It was good and fresh. The rolls were good as well. The old fashioned cocktail was a little bland.

Stopped on a last minute trip from Texas to New Mexico and was so pleasantly surprised. The hotel itself is beautiful and charming with a lot of cool history. Our room was clean, updated, and had a super comfy bed! We ate dinner in the hotel restaurant and had a delicious meal. In the morning, we had a delightful time with Robert (the breakfast chef) who was so friendly and accommodating. 10/10 would stay here again!! Everyone was so super nice!!!

This was our second stay here. Beautiful hotel and exceptionally taken care of inside and outside. Restaurant was clean and maintained with great care. Wait staff is still learning what good service is all about. Very good bar drinks and exceptionally good salad. The main course pistachio breaded steak was previously cooked sometime this week making it dry, less than warm and tasteless, bad waste of $22, ate about a fourth of it. Super trains across the street run throughout the night and they get to use their warning horn as they pass through the intersection in front of the hotel.
