“We have been to all the vets in Port Lavaca with our (3) labs and (2) Jack Russells. We were lucky enough to find out about LoneStar Animal Hospital in Victoria. All the vets are absolutely wonderful. Our vet is Dr Hayley Daniels. She is so gentle and sweet and absolutely loves her patients. They are a hospital as well as a vet office, so they are fully equipped for emergencies. We had to put down 2 of our dogs and they were so kind and compassionate. I cannot say enough about Dr Zepplin and her team. The staff is absolutely wonderful as well. Please give them the opportunity to care for your pet. You will be glad you did.”

“I've been using Main Street Animal Hospital with my dog since I moved to Victoria almost a year ago. They have been outstanding! My little dog started having violent and scary seizures right after I moved to town. They were the only vet clinic I talked to that was willing to work him in for observation when it first started. I was not established with a vet in town when it first happened because I had just moved to town. Excellent staff. I had to be out of town longer than anticipated this week, and they made it easy for me to get his medication from over 6 hours away. Extremely good experiences with Main Street.”

“We had an emergency over new year’s weekend and had the hardest time finding anyone to help us. Thankfully Hillcrest Animal hospital was happy to help. Dr. Beck and his Vet Tech, Madison, were amazing. They were so kind as they helped our pup, were extremely thorough, and even called to check in with us two days later. I will always recommend Dr. Beck to anyone seeking kind and competent care for their pet.”

They actually have a sense of humor here. Took the time to get to know me and Sadie.”

“I've been using NSAC as my pets' primary vet clinic since I moved to Victoria about eight years ago. In that time, following Dr. Culberson's retirement, Dr. Bohac and her team have:
- provided excellent routine care and wellness visits
- saved my dog's life when he had an unexpected negative reaction to anesthesia
- worked hard to diagnose and provide continuing support to one of my cats through chronic, multi-systemic illness
- sacrificed their time to meet me at the clinic for multiple after-hours and weekend emergency calls
- called me to check up on my pets in the days following procedures, treatments, etc.

I'm primarily writing this review because it's disheartening to see some of the negative comments others have left here.

Broadly speaking, veterinary medicine is a difficult, demanding, costly, and often thankless career. It takes a special person to work in a field where you serve both stressed clients and patients who can't tell you what's wrong. It's key to remember that veterinary medicine is not an exact science but rather one that leverages extensive education, experience, and evolving research (plus consideration of clients' financial or logistical limitations) to choose the best plan available. Even then, plans won't always work out. -- In my experience with a chronically ill cat, Dr. Bohac and her team performed a variety of tests and tried multiple treatment approaches over several years before he began to show significant improvement. Even after long periods of stability, he's had occasional flare up and setbacks. There is no magic pill for every condition, but NSAC works with committed clients to get results, even when it takes time.

It's also true that the cost of veterinary care has gone up over the years, but it's key to remember that in order to provide the best care to our animals, vet clinics need to pay for competitive salaries, medicine, safe storage, waste disposal fees, equipment, supplies, software, facility maintenance and utilities, and on and on. It's not cheap. A quick Google search will tell you that most small animal practices run on low profit margins. No one is in vet medicine for the money. Yes, those invoices can be eye-watering, but that's why I budget monthly for pet insurance premiums and personally recommend insurance to anyone who has a pet they can't live without.

All this to say, I have immense respect for everyone at NSAC and am so grateful for everything they've done over the years to care for my best friends. Every interaction I've had with the receptionists, vet techs, and veterinarians (whether Dr. Bohac or those who fill in for her when she's out) have been professional, friendly, and compassionate. They truly care about the health and wellbeing of my animals.”

“I had to bring my cat in for an emergency visit, and I couldn't be more impressed with the staff. They were absolutely amazing! The service was top-notch, and the prices were very reasonable. I’ve never had such a great experience at a vet's office before—10/10, I highly recommend bringing your pets here. The staff took the time to explain everything thoroughly, and I could tell they genuinely cared about my cat's well-being. This will definitely be my new vet from now on!”
