I’ve been eating kolaches from The Donut Palace since I was a kid and they’re just as good now as they were then. Vidor is blessed to have such a wonderful family owned business.

So we were driving back from Evadale, and sped right by Donut Palace. "Aaaaah, I'll need to go there a lot!" I announced. The girl groaned. But most Fridays since then, you'll find me at Donut Palace to get my health food before I start my job. Donut Palace looks nothing like Germany's Neuschwanstein castle. But it's a large, newer, standalone building that's easy to spot. Every other donut shop I've seen is a humble little place, but not Donut Palace. Donut Palace is on the road between Vidor and Evadale, serving people living in the tiny burg of Pine Forest and also people speeding between the two towns. The times I've been there, I've also seen people who it looks like they're going to the plant just before Evadale, or getting their nutrition before starting the construction job. It's also close to the turnoff to Lakeview, so people along that road can get their health food here. Apparently they get enough business to justify the large space. "Health food", for me, is cinnamon rolls, cinnamon twists, and apple fritters. They have no jelly donuts. And all three of these are tasty and freshly baked. I've had bigger cinnamon rolls - I still remember the foot-wides in San Francisco - but the taste and texture are top-notch. Apple chunks in the fritters. Roughly $1.60 for each. I think they also have sandwiches, but don't quote me on that. Drive-thru available, and if you're at Donut Palace before the sun comes up, it's likely that ONLY the drive-thru will be operating. If you can go in and you have time to spare, there are several tables to sit at in the spacious lobby. Bottom line: Donut Palace is probably going to be a special trip for a visit. It's approximately 5 miles from I-10. But my family has brought donuts from places in Vidor, and I think Donut Palace's donuts are better. Enjoy.

Amazing service and food. I suggest the sausage, egg, and cheese croissant. I think they put too much bread on it so I remove the top half of the croissant.
