Direct Appliance has kept my old appliances alive and well for several years - always honest and reasonable. And they call before the service person arrives.

Our laundry room has a recessed tiled area with a drain where the washer and dryer sits. I noticed the area was wet. I thought the washer might be leaking. I called DAR to have a technician come and look at it. The next day the technician arrived as scheduled. He disassembled the washer and could not find an obvious cause for the wet floor. Upon further inspection he reached around the rear of the washer (front loader) and noticed some grease on the rear seal/bearing. The technician said that he was certain the washer was leaking from the rear seal/bearing. The costs of repairs would exceed the price of a new washer. I appreciated his honesty, paid the $69.00 call fee and he left. I purchased a new washer, disposed of the old one, cleaned the floor and installed the new one and returned to work. When I arrived home that night, the floor was wet again. I removed the washer and dryer, dried the floor and started inspecting closely with a flashlight. It took some time but I saw that a slow water leak was coming from the other side of the wall where the air conditioner is. What was happening is the air conditioner’s drain was plugged and the pan was overflowing and slowly dripping to the other side of the wall into the recessed tile area in the laundry room. I called DAR and left a voicemail nicely stating my facts and did not get a call back, I called again the next day and my call went to voicemail on the second ring. I called again on the third day and spoke with the owner, He stated that if the bearing had grease on it, it was leaking. Absolutely not true, we purchased a new washer and paid to dispose of the old one for nothing. The technician was knowledgeable and friendly, everybody makes mistakes. The owner was unapologetic and argumentative, very unprofessional, especially for a small business owner. Our previous appliance repairman recently retired and we were looking for a replacement, this is definitely not it. We have several businesses, rent houses and town houses, all and all probably more than 25 units. That was a costly mistake on the part of DAR’s owner. I truly enjoy posting positive reviews and unfortunately, this cannot be the case. I'm giving two stars instead of one because the techician was on time and courteous.
