“I have been meaning to share my experience with this clinic since Ive had to put my pitbull down in 2025 at 15yrs old. At that time, they were able to accommodate me same day and were very kind during the whole process, and she was able to pass peacefully. I had a few routine appointments after that, and when my cat had a sudden injury, he was treated well and resolved within a week or two. I know Dr Wheat has a reputation of not having great bedside manner, but I didn't feel it affected the treatment at the time, and the techs are very kind. However, I give 4 stars because of a more recent experience building up to the passing of my chihuahua. He was 18, and passed peacefully with their help, but I feel that there was more I could have done for him if I had known. There is a tendency at this clinic to not go into detail about a diagnosis or treatment I've noticed, so when he needed more heart murmur meds, I was not told to refill. I do blame myself, and common sense should have guided me to get more, but he also received a dental antibiotic same day and I was told to give it to him until it was finished, then that would be it for that treatment. So I didn't think to ask, nor was I told, about refilling his heart murmur medication, thinking it was a similar case until it was too late. This irked me because they have sent me reminders about shots before, so I was put off to the fact thay they didnt send at least a reminder or explained to me in my appt that he would need refills on that med. When the appt for his euth came, I explained this to the doc, and that was the time I felt she was annoyed, cold and made the situation worse. I bet there are a lot of people that come in and Dr Wheat has to deal with cases of neglect or laziness too many times, but I was never that type of owner. I didn't want to rate lower just because of my previous experiences, but I want to say that if you can be established elsewhere, do that. Seeing photos of other pets on here makes me reluctant to react negatively because it's clear it isn't always the case that Dr Wheat is lacking, so I hope all established pets are happy and healthy thanks to this team. But do what you have to do for your babies. Thank you.”

“Dr. Shivley and his staff are wonderful! Our dog was suffering from what Doc quickly diagnosed as a bulging disc in his back and later found a possible birth defect that could have contributed also. Dr. Shivley quickly suggested treatment and gave our big boy lots of love and care. He didn’t demand that our dog stay overnight but offered the option. After 3 days of treatments our baby is SO MUCH better. We will use Dr. Shivley from now on for all of our pets!!”

I will take her to Rankin this week and as long as she is in our family, too; because they’re the best in Texarkana’s region. And my dogs are my family and get the best care, just like my kids or my parents. Top notch service and facilities and they really care for your pets. I started with them in an emergency for my small dog, and go to them for all my pet care now. Fantastic place for all pets, even large animals like cattle and horses.
