My disappointment stems from the staff being unprofessional and the Doctor not wanting to go the extra mile (or at least ask their staff to go the extra mile). My symptoms have been pretty severe lately. For my initial appointment back in July I was given a sample that ended up working great to treat the severity of my symptoms. A month later I had my appointment and came to an agreement that I would start taking that medication. The Doctor gave me a coupon that was suppose to help lessen the cost of the medication. When it came time to pay the amount was still very expensive. When I called the doctor their staff said that I would have to call myself to see which alternatives would be more affordable. I found that odd due to the other places I go to always look into that for the patient or they already know which alternatives work best. The person I spoke to made me feel like she was just tossing me away without letting me know if she'll let the doctor know or not. I wrote a message to my doctor letting her know how I felt and a few minutes later I get a call from her staff, the same person I spoke with initially. She said "I just saw your message to the doctor, I'm a little confused because I don't know what I said to make you feel upset". First, that is unprofessional. A person on staff shouldn't call the patient to "confront" them. Her appropriate response should have been "I saw your message, I apologize if I made you feel upset it wasn't my intention. I will go ahead and let the doctor know and see what we can do". To take things further I got a call from the doctor. Now, I understand the doctors having to support their staff because at the end of the day they work together everyday. What threw me off was the doctor saying "we have to put some responsibility on the patient". Meaning, I have to stop what I'm doing to call and gather the information they should technically already know. That "some responsibility" is a lot for a patient. Can you imagine a doctor saying that to a cancer patient? Why should it be any different for a "regular" patient?. I personally have someone in my immediate family going through breast cancer and I am the person they contact since I speak both English and Spanish and they only speak Spanish. On top of going to school full time, working and having my own health problems to deal with. That "some responsibility" is a lot for a patient. Them being the Doctor, you would think they would know which medications would be more affordable and not prescribe the most expensive one right off the back. Regardless, I called my insurance and gathered the information. I'm thankful it took no less than 20 minutes. I then asked my insurance if my provider could call and ask for the same information, they said yes they just need my DOB, Name and group number. Which are all on file anyway. I then went an extra step and called my insurance but chose the provider line. Once connected I mentioned that I'm actually a member but have a question, I explained the situation and they said "yes, as long as they have those three things they could get the information needed". I called the doctor back, gave the information but then called back and just told them to cancel it. Out of the three medications I gave them they still prescribed me the most expensive one out of the three. It only leads me to believe that this doctor is big on pharma. To continue this, I got two bills in the mail. One from 3 years ago and another from the summer saying I have a balance due. The one from 3 years ago doesn't make any sense because I never got a bill in the mail saying I had a balance due. The one from the summer also doesn't make sense because the amount they say I owe doesn't show on my EOB. Also the statement date is always within the same month of the appointment. This statement date shows it from the month I had this issue with the staff and doctor. A two month difference. I will call my insur
