You will not be disappointed. The displays are one of a kind and deep rooted in history. From Custer to NASA to local heroes. A prize of Wheeler, no doubt!

Wonderfully curated collection of artifacts belonging to Apollo 12 astronaut Alan Bean. Many of the exhibits focus on his childhood in Texas. A must stop for space fans.

Well worth a hop off I-40. Amazing collection on astronaut Alan Bean, fourth man on the moon, and his painted artwork. Also a nice presentation and artifacts of the local Red River War. Located in the American Legion building. Free, but there is a donation box. Some displays are in progress (3/2019), so it's just getting better. Staff was friendly and helpful (and the only person around when I visited on a Saturday). Just head north from the U-Drop-In in Shamrock and continue through Wheeler until you see the big astronaut statue.
