UPDATE: The director of the REC called and apologized and assured me he would b talking to Christina. He said this was very unlike her as most parents have a very good relationship with her. He refunded tuition not used immediately and also reached out to my daughter father. Many other people have voiced great things about this place, our experience was just unfortunate and we want our child to feel comfortable and happy wherever she is! Thankful for the kindness and professionalism he showed and quick attentiveness to the situation.Original Post:Maybe if ur kid is a little older they will like this place. My 5 year old daughter, and other K students, are forced to sit up against the back of the gym and b quite. I was told this was bc it echos and they need to regroup the big group of younger kids there. Which I get to an extent, however; a 5y/o should not b in the same area, or not have their own person designated to their age group, as a 12 y/o.My biggest complaint, and should have trusted my gut, was with Christina...the REC head admin who was there when I went to bring my daughter the day before school so she could see where she would b going. Mind u, my girl loves K at Brown, she is outgoing and was excited for it all....but I get there and there are 2 sweet girls at the front, one of which I inform i had 2 papers to sign (which I had already sent online) and that I wanted her to see where she would be after school. There is another man there to pick up his son and I hear Christina from the back say he needs to sign something. She came out very frazzled and almost rude, never looked up to me until I said "HI, this is (my daughters name) and we just came to show her where she would b" she said hi and kind of tried so I expected that she was just very stressed and not coping well. We go into the gym and the girls in there were very sweet and welcoming, and then we leave.Myself, her Dad, and her Step Mom all had rude interactions with her. And my daughter is crying not wanting to go here because they "sit on the wall for a long time and told they can't talk." And it was dark like they had some lights off or something. My child isn't a saint and she is young, but she would go anywhere and b happy bc she loves people and kids and teachers...Def need new management, leadership or whatever. The sweet girl behind the desk trying to help me and the guy that walked in was literally shaking, hands trembling, while Christina rudely and aggressively asked for this parent to sign something and pressured her to get what she needed quicker. Then voiced "gah everyone decided to stop in within the last hour day before school."

The man that runs this place is incredible rude and constantly harassing my teenagers and their friends. Definitely NOT "community friendly" if you aren't over the age of 50. Which is extremely disappointing for a small town business.

As in today's world it very difficult to find a fitness center with a "Family Atmosphere",.With "The REC" you can feel comfortable taking your family and enjoying fitness activities, or having your children there for after school activities..,

The childcare is literally the best in ETX. The staff is so welcoming and they interact with the kids on such a positive note. I will definitely be sending my LO here as soon as she meets the age req! The director is absolutely phenomenal and has been such a light to WISD
