I started this not knowing a thing. Their instructors are kind and super knowledgeable. They not only help me with my dog but are patient and supportive of me as I train my first dog. Always safe so your dog doesn't get hurt and quick to have redirection to help the handler set their dog up for success. Its a great time for you and your dog.

I started with DDS in 2009 with a rescue and had a great time bonding with my dog who went on the compete successfully at the Masters level even though he wasn't particularly fast. You never stop learning at this facility as the owner has been doing this for decades. It is a fun, interesting and low-pressure environment and dogs and owners are brought along at the pace that best suits them. I've just started with a new dog (now 2 years old) and had his successful first trial last weekend. You can almost tell immediately who DDS's students are as they are a lot more disciplined and consistent in the ring. We have another pup who is about 3 months away from his pre-agility classes. I highly recommend.

I love how ALL breeds are welcome here! The owner has not only a border collie but a miniature poodle that is in training for agility! I have been a student with my dog, a Cocker Spaniel mix, for 2 years. I started classes with a second dog, a pb Cocker, about a year ago. My experience with EVERY instructor and the facility itself has been nothing but wonderful! My pre-agility instructor was/is extremely patient and at the same time honest with people about general traits of each breed. It is reality that a beagle is going to react differently to agility exercises than a great dane!!! If someone is told that they need to be aware of trait A,B or C, or that perhaps extra attention should be spent on training something specific at home rather than be offended and say rude things they should take into consideration the instructors experience and years spent doing what they do! People get out of dog training what they put into it...the dogs don't train themselves because we show up at a class one hour a week. The facility of DDS has extensive equipment kept in very good condition, the grounds themselves are well kept. The instructors are more than willing to give personal attention where needed and every one of them keep their classes in order, especially for beginning dogs where there is a higher probability of reactive dogs not used to being in in these situations. If there is any doubt about the ability of the trainers at DDS, or the wide expanse of breeds trained, go to the website and look through the ring of honor listings...that speaks for itself! I love DDS. The programs there have enriched my life and the lives of my dogs. Thank you, DDS!!

I am currently doing the pre-agility 2 class with my dog Dixie at Dallas Dog Sports. I initially chose to start training Dixie here after reviewing a few different agility training places in the Dallas area. It definitely has not disappointed. Dogs learn the basic commands such as sit, stay, lay down, how to walk on a leash, etc. but basic agility principles such as keeping the dogs attention on you and increasing speed are also taught in the pre-agility classes. Your dog definitely has to have a good grasp of the commands to graduate to the next class and that will only happen if you are willing to work with your dog daily in between classes. If you really want your dog to learn and if you are willing to put in time and effort to be a good trainer Dallas Dog Sports is a great place to take your dog to learn obedience and pre-agility.
