Great local shop! I had taken a 7 year hiatus from hockey after college and decided to come out of retirement. These guys got me set up head to toe with new gear for a reasonable price considering I literally needed every piece of gear. It's been a couple months now and my skates feel great, gear is all comfortable and I'm loving being back on the ice!

Alan is the best at what he does when it comes to hand skate sharpening and modifications. He is super meticulous at his craft and remounted several pairs of skates that I own to perfection. As a professional power skating instructor I have always sent my skates to a proshop in Canada to put in heel lifts and change out holders. With Alan at cottonwood hockey shop I no longer have to do that. The detail that he puts in down to having plush copper rivets is amazing. Most hockey people woudn't even notice these small details but im one.of those crazy people that notices the smallest differences in the details of how skates are mounted. He is the man!

There is a reason this place has 5.0 stars.First of all, very friendly and helpful customer service. They are extremely knowledgeable as well. Came in here after getting quoted $300-$500 to fix a broken blade holder at Pure Hockey. "Either that or go look at our new skates and buy a pair." Reilly went above and beyond, not only to look for a new holder either locally or online, but he ended up finding a used one within the shop and my skates are back ready to rip within the same day! The pricing was LEAGUES more realistic than what pure hockey shrugged me off with as well!

Excellent customer service. I recently bought a visor/cage combo for my hockey helmet; unfortunately, it did not come with the hardware necessary to install it. I took it back and they were more than happy to scrounge up some parts and install it for me-- no questions asked. They also don't employ high-pressure sales tactics here, which is honestly a breath of fresh air. Would happily recommend to people who are looking for a personable experience.

Alan and the crew are the best! Between the skate sharpenings and the help with the gear for both hockey and biking they really knock it out of the park. We are frequent shoppers, I’m super thankful that we have this shop in the neighborhood.

My sons and I are in town for a hockey tournament and needed some equipment and skate sharpening. Alan and Stacy were amazing, knowledgeable AND have a nice selection. Great experience and even got a few restaurant recommendations!!!

Outstanding service! We have a daughter who skates (we are not skaters), and we always feel welcome at this store. Whether it is the owner or an employee that is helping us, they take time and show a great deal of patience and always offer their expertise so that we get the right product, the right service, or the the correct advice - a great local store that opens early and stays open late.

Absolutely love this place. Given me the best sharpens, best blades, best sticks, best gear all of it. The customer service is absolutely amazing and every pair of skates I've bought from this place I have loved. They recommended me cat 9s and I've only ever skated bauer but I am so glad they talked me into it because these skates are absolutely amazing. best hockey shop in Utah hands down.

I brought my son in for new hockey stakes and pants. We were greeted and helped immediately. The owner patiently helped my son try on several types of skates until we found the right size. The skates were then custom fit to his feet. I thought customer service like this was long dead but man was I wrong. Alan was so gracious, kind, and professional with us that I would recommend anyone in the Salt Lake valley to take the time to drive over to his store. Thank you Alan for a wonderful experience!

Such a neat shop! (It is located on the top floor of the building.) I went there to buy my first figure skates for a class and the shopkeeper, Alan, was so helpful and kind. We found the perfect fit for a reasonable price! Heating and sharpening them was also included in the purchase for no additional cost and the only extra thing I bought were some blade covers. Trying them on in-person helped a ton with figuring out my size and I called something like10 other places beforehand who said they only have online options. Would highly recommend!! :)

This is a great place! Because we live out of the area, we incorporated a stop here with an airport run. Allen went over and beyond to work us in and sharpen several pairs of skates. We are very happy with his friendly service and the excellent job he did.

Fantastic little shop, the gang working there was super helpful and very polite. They helped me size, try on, and grab skates that I am very excited about. And because I bought from them, they even baked and sharpened the skates for me on the house. These folks are awesome! Definitely going to be my go-to hockey shop from now on. Thanks guys!

Hands down the best customer service in Utah. They even carry raven sticks, which are excellent sticks for youth to start because they have appropriate flex. Why would you give a squirt a 65 flex? I digress. They may not have the selection of pure hockey but they have the true hockey heart.

Im a beginner and had never experienced trying on brand new skates. I had done some reading but ya know you just have to try them on in order to find out what fits you best. They were incredibly helpful in ensuring I found the best fit for a long lasting pair of skates. Great selection for someone with narrow feet like me and the prices are absolutely fair. :)

What a great store! Our family is new to skating and actually bought skates online before learning we had dedicated local shops (we had actually been told by someone at a local rink that there weren't any, believe it or not!). I was embarrassed to even go in to ask for help as an online buyer, but Jae and the team at Cottonwood graciously made us feel at home and helped us with baking/fitting and sharpening, taught us much more about skating and skate care, and even got our little girls genuinely interested in hockey. It's all they've been talking about since. We also met a family in town for a tournament who'd found the shop to replace a broken stick and enjoyed bending their ears about the sport. Tons of gear here too, really a fun place.I've read reviews of other shops in the valley where people have had questionable customer experiences, even being ignored - that's certainly not going to happen here! Just a cool place and fantastic service, and a perfect example of why small, well-run, locally-owned businesses will always be a cut above national chains. There's no comparison really...great, great shop.
