So expensive. Plus they "lose" your visit history so you have to pay more to reestablish as customers. I took my bird in for nail & beak trim. Paid a pretty penny only to get home & discover they'd missed 4 toes & the ones they got were still too long - they barely took the tips off! If only there were plenty of other vets that perform this service.

Worst exotic clinic. I took a rabbit here a while ago, and it was one of the worst experiences. Our competent vet was out of town, and we had a rabbit starting to bloat, so we were forced to find another clinic. Our mistake. Not only was he misdiagnosed, but they also had given him no pain meds, or iv fluids the whole time he was there. So they just let him continue to bloat. They offered to do surgery, but without being able to place an iv catheter in him or give a correct diagnosis, and with the vet giving us a poor prognosis, we opted to euthanize. When they came to do it, I found out that they were going to heart stick him. We contacted our regular vet and vet tech, and our tech offered to go in and help a non-exotic vet euthanize our roughly 7 lb rabbit. We declined to let them euthanize with a heart stick, were polite the whole time, and I informed the ill-informed vet tech that heart sticking rabbits is not in fact standard practice anywhere we regularly take our rabbits even though she insisted it was everywhere and no one else would be able to get a catheter in. Our regular vet tech was, in fact, able to place a catheter in literally less than 5 minutes start to finish, with 1 poke (I watched). Our regular vet with the help of her tech and the regular vets they worked with did their best to help us save him but having gone all day without any care he would have needed to pass the blockage without surgery, we did end up euthing him. But he got to go the right way. When we tried to use them a year later when our vet was out of town, just for xrays and bloodwork, we found out we had been banned. They were very rude on the phone telling us we weren't allowed to go there and then hanging up without giving me even 2 seconds to ask why, so I can only assume we were banned for refusing their medical services and taking our rabbit elsewhere and educating (again, as politely as I could, being horrified that an EXOTIC vet clinic couldn't place an iv catheter in a larger rabbit and their standard of care was heart sticking) their vet tech that you in fact can euthanize with an iv catheter. I have heard countless first-hand accounts (I do have a list for anyone who is wondering) from others about how their negligence cost their rabbit's life, and then we personally experienced it. We never would have taken a rabbit there if we had known how they'd treat them or if our regular vet had been in town. They didn't even give a bloating rabbit pain meds! People are much better off taking their exotics to a clinic that actually is competent in caring for exotics. Rip Rocky, we're so sorry ?

I have had such a great experience with Wasatch Exotic. The staff has been so great and even when booked the Doctors have made the time to get us in during urgent situations. I am so grateful for and appreciate the love shown here.

The staff here helped save my baby rat’s life. She was very ill and stayed the weekend on oxygen because of pneumonia. The curbside service is kind of inconvenient, but I can understand it. I would strongly recommend anyone with sick rats to come here. They are sort of expensive and hard to book appointments though.

I took in a 2 month old lepord gecko that had stopped eating and had lost alot of weight we spent easily $300 to have him seen and tested for any possible parasites or disease and they ended up telling me he was completely healthy but sent me home with papers for stick tails desease shortly after we found out on our own that he had a substrate blockage so I do not plan on taking any reptiles back there

Honestly I can’t speak for the care that my pet received since I wasn’t even allowed inside, not even with a mask in 2023. I really hope that they were cared for before they passed at the clinic, I understand it happens but many vets now allow you in the clinics to be with your animals, with or without masks, I really do believe they would’ve improved so much more by knowing they weren’t completely alone.I just advise that if you bring them here just know that they still follow strict covid guidelines, nothing wrong with that I suppose but as I mentioned I do believe seeing me would’ve improved their chances

They are very hard to get ahold of. I've been calling and leaving messages various times over the past few months and haven't gotten a call back. When I previously was able to get an appointment they were very helpful, but don't expect to get a quick appointment unless you're lucky.

I had a great experience with Wasatch Exotic Pet Care. I had a hedgehog named Jasper, and I brought him in twice. I noticed some issues with him and took him in for the first time, and they gave me options with how to help him. I chose medication, and they sent me back with the medication to give him. It helped to some extent, but he was still struggling himself. I brought him in a second time and they gave me the rundown of everything going on with him. The doctor did an amazing job explaining everything to me on the phone (Dr. Dickerson I believe). Dr. Dickerson and I agreed the best solution was euthanasia. Dr. Harris and a few other staff helped me through the euthanasia process later the same day, and they were professional about it and made me feel comfortable during such a tough time. As unfortunate at the situation was, I felt and knew that Jasper was being treated with great care. All of the staff I interacted with were very kind, understanding, and considerate. They let me spend some time with Jasper before one last time before letting him go, which was very much needed for me. I’m glad I put Jasper in their care. They also did a great a great job answering all of the questions I had and also did a good job breaking down the costs of everything to me and helped me figure out what my options were and what would work best within my budget.

My bunny Squish stopped eating suddenly this week and even though I'm a new patient they were able to get him in immediately as an emergency visit. He's difficult to handle so I wasn't comfortable trying to treat him at home until he was well on his way to recovery. So even though I know they're very busy they were completely willing to hospitalize him for several days so that I could be sure he was getting all the care he needed. Both vets I dealt with and all of the staff were very kind and helpful and gave him such loving care. They were upfront about pricing and let me decide what I was comfortable paying for. They even stayed past closing time with me to make sure I was comfortable giving him the meds he still needs before discharging him. He's finally back home and doing so much better. He wouldn't have made it without them and I'm so thankful.

I took my parrot in and Dr Harris made what I think was a difficult diagnosis quickly, relatively inexpensively. She has an X-ray which led to the diagnosis and kept my baby there on oxygen overnight while waiting for basic bloodwork results to get faxed over from another office. She was seen at that clinic and they missed the diagnosis and cost a lot more. They had me do unnecessary extra blood work for diseases and asked for a CT. They have a great reputation but it cost me $900 with no help vs $500 ish here including treatment.

It was so strange. I felt like I was back in the COVID days! I had to call them once I arrived in the parking lot, then they didn’t answer and I had to call 3 different time to let them know I was there. Then they came out and had me fill out forms in their parking lot, then they took my pet and left inside. I stood there wondering what to do. They came out to help another customer and looked puzzled to see me, then said you can leave, we’ll call you when we’re done. It took them all day and I finally got at call at 4:30 in the afternoon and I had to rush back to make sure they didn’t close on me. I was in SLC trying to get some work done! 95 dollars later just to find out nothing was wrong. Very strange.

Called to get my ferret in for a same day emergency visit. Called early in the morning and was told that the doctor wasn’t in until 9:30-10am and I would receive a call back on if they could see him. NO ONE EVER CALLED ME BACK. My ferret was having seizures and we ended up going to Kaysville Vet Hospital that got us in and saw our ferret that was having severe low blood sugars. He had to be put down due to cancer.I understand not having the capacity to see my ferret as they are a busy clinic but at least call me back and let me know as this little guy was a best friend to us.Kaysville animal hospital was amazing and recommend them for any animal concerns and do not recommend this place just based off the fact that they didn’t follow through with what they said they would do.
