Dutch John Resort at Flaming Gorge offers a mixed experience for visitors. Many guests appreciate the friendly and helpful staff, often highlighting the great customer service. The food at the steakhouse is noted to be tasty, adding to the overall enjoyment. However, some reviews mention that the resort is somewhat dusty and not very clean, particularly in the cowboy cabins. The campground can become muddy after rain, making mobility difficult. Additionally, the garbage area is criticized for being too close to camping spots, attracting flies and detracting from the experience. Guests find the location far from water and activities, requiring long drives for nearby attractions. Overall, the resort has potential but requires improvements in cleanliness and maintenance.
Probably staying somewhere else next time. Cabin was not guest ready (no hand towels or wash cloths, no paper towels, grill wasn’t functional, two of three smoke detectors were missing, shower curtain was moldy). Location is great and this would be a great place to stay if it were properly kept up.

After staying for 5 nights, we asked about extending 2 more. The price per night doubled so we left. There are other camping spots and I felt that was ridiculous, particularly since they were sparsely occupied. They were rude and plainly showed interest in profit not customer satisfaction.

A little old and run down, but definitely going to plan a trip here to try out their cabins and do some wilderness exploring. Beautiful location and looking forward to coming back.
