I went to REI in Farmington tonight to buy myself a lightweight, warm, travel jacket. All the jackets were double secured. Cable attaching the jacket to the wall, then another another cable through a sleeve. I requested to have it all removed so I could try it on. The friendly lady explained how the store had 20k worth of jackets stolen the weekend prior. The odd and uncomfortable part was the associate wouldn’t leave my side while I was trying on the jacket. You can’t make people who obviously aren’t thieves, feel uncomfortable and like they had anything to do with professional who got you last weekend. The Christmas season will be tough for everyone if this is the policy going fwd. This is also where we’ve found ourselves when we’ve basically allowed theft. What gives?

Guys come on.. it's a retail chain. Prices are too high, everything is cookie cutter and the management or ownership of this store doesn't even care enough about you as a customer to respond to any of the reviews on Google, not even the bad ones. As far as they're concerned, you're a number, not a person. That doesn't deserve a five-star review. ✌️

Like many REIs, this store was very similar in terms of presentation, organization, cleanliness and helpful staff. Everything at this location was immaculate and they were many staff members around to help answer questions that were friendly and welcoming. This location is only a single story, so not as big as other stores, But decent for the space that they have.
For those that do not know, REI is one of the big outdoor retailers for camping, hiking, backpacking, climbing etc. In general, they carry the most popular brands and also their own brand line. I find them to be on the more pricey side, But they often have good deals and sales which can bring prices down below where you can find everywhere else, including Amazon.

Got shoes here. Peg and Sarah helped me out and are absolute gems. The entire staff is extremely friendly. Walked out with the perfect shoe.

Normally they are a super helpful store with great gear but today I had a sad experience with one of their staff members being rude when I arrived just after they closed. I realize that I should have checked the hours but they did not have to be so rude and unfriendly. will not be going to REI Farmington again.

I always have great customer service experience at this location. (Superlative intended!) it’s about time I write a review to thank everyone. Tonight Sarah in the ski dept was so kind and offered to mount my bindings on my new skis at 7:20pm, because it’s pounding snow and she knew I’d want to use my new skis tomorrow. She got it done with time to spare! As I was loading my skis into my car, I saw her run all the way to her car and got the feeling she was running late because she stayed to help me. If that’s the case, she didn’t let on that I was an imposition at all. Thank you so much Sarah! Have fun wherever you’re going- I know I’ll have fun on the slopes!

REI seems like it has some cool stuff. Got a $30 gift card for Christmas and went to go look around. Turns out to get a basic T shirt at REI or even a bra or a hat on clearance you are looking at $45-$70 price tags and up. It kind of made me sick seeing how over priced everything was. Personally I’m not going to spend $45+ on a T Shirt just because it says Patagonia on it, that’s insane. I ended up being able to purchase some SPF chapstick, a small head lamp, and a Lenny & Larry’s protein cookie without going over the $30 on my gift card. ?
