Cathy and her collection are wonderful! She had many interesting and clearly cared for specimens. I especially liked her core samples and bargain shelves. She sold many pieces for a few dollars, but everything was extremely reasonably priced. She had gorgeous petrified wood pieces. Anyone who enjoys rocks and great people should stop by!

This shop has a great selection of minerals, fossils, native american objects, petrified wood and more. The owner has personally gathered many of the specimens and knows the provenance of the others. Prices were far lower than any rock shop around Zion or Bryce Canyon National Parks. Would highly recommend for those interested in rocks from the area.

If you're into rocks, fossils and minerals this is one stop you've got to make if you're in the area. This isn't your typical tourist trap rock shop - Cathy has some exquisite pieces here along with the knowledge of what they are, where they came from along with details of source. It was so hard to pick which ones to purchase. Pricing is tremendously fair and she also offers a kid section (or adult too) of $1 each rocks so nobody need go empty handed. Literally, I had a full body buzz for at least an hour after leaving her shop. Also, the building itself has massive rock shop cred - look at the front of the building and you'll know you're at the right spot.Keep up the good work Cathy! We enjoyed meeting you and I so appreciate being able to have these in my collection. Thank you so much!

Such an awesome rock shop! Kathy, the owner was extremely helpful and friendly to chat about the wide variety of Rocks in the area, as well as other info on the town and the artists that have work in her store. Tons of rad flint knapped arrowheads, knives, etc.

Rocks tell the history of Earth, but for many of us, rocks don't need to "do" anything to be cool. Shiny and sparkly, striped and speckled, rough and smooth, bone-in stony and shellfish macaroni, spewed by volcanoes or exposed from ancient seashores...every imaginable color...on and on. The Rockin Riddle Rock Shop is owned by Lillian, somebody who considers it a gift to make a living sharing these marvels. It's an unassuming exterior, just like the raggedy surface of a geode. The crystals appear when you open it up. Prices are fair, and of course, Hanksville sits at the crossroads of Highways 24 and 95...the intersection of Beauty and Spectacle in Utah. Add the rocks to the hundreds of reasons to drive these roads.

This shop has become an annual stop for us, as we visit relatives west of the park. Every year Kathy has added more and more to her inside display area as well as the back. part of her lot. Where we spent an afternoon at a remote site searching fo even a small piece of pigeon blood agate, Kathy had a whole box of rough waiting to be taken home and worked. In addition to rocks you would expect to find (petrified wood, coprolite, Utah minerals), she also frequently has unusual and unique items at reasonable prices. This is definitely a worthwhile place to spend vacation time. Ernie, the original owner, would be pleased with what she has done for the shop!
