If I can leave a minus 100 review for this hospital I would please don't take your animal here. seriously the worst experience in the last 3 days of my life with any pet and I'm 64 years old so I've had a lot of experience with veterinarian hospitals owning a dog every minute of my life. I'm begging you find a different place if you love your animal. VCA hospital in Riverton on 90th South and 1500 West is an excellent hospital don't go by the name. I can't tell you how bad the experience was and how stupid they are the dogs have more experience than the people there they are pathetic! I have never thought I would have to leave this bad of a review for anybody

Thought I would express my experience here as well as the business doesnt care about anything but itself and takes no responsibility for there actions. Here is my experience which is also what I wrote on google. "Had been going to these guys for a few years. I would say that they are no different that the majority, but the reason for the one star is cause they gave medication for my dog and didnt advise that the medication smells like beef or treats. Thus our dog ended up finding it and and eating all of it. Had to take her to the vet and cost me $600 to get her taken care of.If they would have told me that the medication is designed that way, I could have taken extra steps to prevent the dog from eating it.The staff takes no responsibility for not mentioning it and they just shrug it off.I would compare this place to a bad doctors office."Then they replied with this:"Jason, we care about your dog's well-being and do not take your disappointment lightly. If you would like to address this matter further with our team, please do not hesitate to email us at reviews.vcaoquirrhhills@…. Thank you."I proceeded to follow up with this:"Update: On the 15th of Nov, 2022. I reached out to them with the email that they provided below. This is what I emailed:"I hope this isnt the vet mott or something like that or the receptionist as they have already told us that they dont care.If it is someone else that isnt part of that vet clinic, I would be glad to discuss the issue."I have not heard anything back and today is the 22nd of Nov, 2022, thus, IMO, the concerned response was just something to try and save face and show that they care to look good in the review, either by the clinic or those that monitor the reviews.I am still open to discuss, if they would like to contact me."

We took our cat to get spayed here. The spay was performed by Alma Ryle. I was given extremely vague post op instructions which I followed to a T!I checked her incision wound every single day without fail and there was nothing remarkable to note any of the times. I noticed on post op day 18 she now was staying under our couch and all the sudden wouldn't eat for me. Still not fevered or anything. It was the afternoon so I text that same number back they text me from originally asking if this was a depression phase she was going through with the hormone changes or what. I felt stupid calling for a cat that seemed otherwise fine other than possible acute depression from hormones shifting. Hence the text from the number Alma text me from originally instead of a call bothering a very busy animal hospital. I've also taken my dog there and had the vet text me and gotten back to me when I had more questions even on a different day. Why would l think this was any different?By 8:30 pm an abscess had opened up 2 inches away from the spay incision site and was pouring out pus from it. I called and left two voicemails with Oquirrh hills. I took her into the ER vet in Salt Lake early Saturday morning. Thankfully she was still alive! I was told by the vet tech that took her back that she would have done the exact same as I did as far as thinking my cat was fine and that most certainly it looks like something the other vet did during the surgery. I have also spoke with 2 other vet technicians that said they work for vets and would have not done anything different or thought anything different than I did. As well as, both surgery techs at the vet hospital also saying the same thing. I didn't receive a call back from Oquirrh hills until noon the next day. I was told the number that I was originally text from is a number they use there to text from, but Alma doesn't work on Fridays and nobody else checks that phone. What?!?! Why isn't that something that is communicated to the customers that it isn't a number you can text DURING BUSINESS HOURS if YOU are texting the customers on it?!?!The vet at the ER found that the abscess pocket led all the way to the internal sutures from the spay. I received a call Monday morning from Alma as I was taking my cat back to the ER to have their surgery department help with the situation from Alma. She played it off that the abscess had nothing to do with the spay but was unaware that they sent me the vet notes as well. I even read them to her and her response was "okaaaay?" The ER vet also called me and also communicated that the abscess had to do with the spay. When talking with Alma she kept denying the surgery had anything to do with the infection and infections happen all the time in health care so I was assuming that risk when getting her spayed in the first place. I never signed any release saying I was assuming that risk and was ok with them being careless in their procedures to cause an infection that could kill my cat.Their regional manager was no different and said the same thing that I assumed the risk. Regardless of me never signing anything saying I did. Making it very clear to me that they don't care about your animals and only the money you'll give them. I'm left with almost $1500 in bills now!Poor customer service and poor care of practices!

After spending literally hundreds of dollars on my cat, I was told he just had "behavioral problems". Well Dr. Ryle couldnt have been more wrong! My cat had cancer - lymphoma, that she could have been treating instead of denying my requests for more appointments. She would text me a little about changing his food, when she knew he was very thin and losing so much weight! I eventually changed to a wonderful vet at Copper View animal hospital who tried to treat my cat, but by then it was too late and he passed away last week sadly.

Had minor issues in the past, but in the grand scheme of things, especially lately, these guys have been darn good. I've got some health issues myself, and they've helped work around my unpredictable schedule to make things work. Dr Voss is just a generally all around solid no-bs kinda guy.

I used to love this vet. My dog is old, 16 years, and he has had kidney problems as an old dog would. The doctor we saw last said to watch for signs he was declining. I called with some news that he may have had a seizure. He was acting fine but I thought he could get an appointment to check what his current situation was. They referred me to the emergency. My dog was not in duress or in any pain. I didn't think an emergency visit was necessary. I called back to make an appointment later and they would not even give me an appointment. The girl on the phone said they wouldn't help me. I couldn't believe what she was saying. My understanding was they would help me get through this last stage of my dogs life. That we would have a conversation but she basically said they would not even see me. Wow. Not very compassionate or empathetic to their existing clients. So thank you for nothing. And your front desk girl needs training. Desperately.

I've gone to different vets over the years and I gave them a shot because they were the closest when I moved to Herriman. They are the worst vet I have ever been to. They are extremely overpriced, they will try and upsell you on everything, and they just don't know their stuff. They wanted to prescribe my dog medicine costing over $100 a month. When I did the research online it was going to significantly shorten my dogs life and they were other alternatives that were much cheaper that they never even brought up. On top of that their communication with clients is awful. When I contact them or leave a message to set up an appointment or to cancel one they never let me know if it's been set up or canceled. Find a different vet. And since I see that that they reply to all of the reviews I just want to leave one more note for them. All of your reviews that are negative say two things. First that you are extremely overpriced and second that you don't give good service. If you actually care about your customers or my negative review consider changing your policies and please reply with the policy changes that you were going to make and timeline to make them.

Unbelievable. I called about a month ago to schedule a new client apt for my pup and the girl I spoke with was amazing. I forget her name, but she was so sweet and so informative, I felt so secure in my decision with choosing them to be a new office for my dog. She answered all my questions and I thought we were being set up for success, come time to our appointment. Fast forward to today- I felt like I showed up to the wrong place. We pull up to the clinic, ready to have our pup seen for the first time. We notice that they have numbered "stalls" made for you to pull into and a sign posted with the phone number to the office on them. It says to call if you are there for a curbside visit or a pickup, and I didn't park in the stalls because I knew (or so I thought) that didn't apply to us. We tried walking in for the appointment, and the doors were locked. Confused, I called the office saying how we were there for our early morning 8:30 appointment and wasn't sure where to go in. I was told they were only doing drop offs, where you'd leave your pet with them and they'd call you in 45 mins once they were done. We were NOT warned of this. Not once while scheduling the appointment. Not once when I confirmed the appointment via the app. Not at all. Had we known this, we never would have gone through with the scheduling. Our dog has extreme separation anxiety, an issue we wanted to discuss with the vet, and they wanted us to leave him with them. How they expect pet owners to do this for NEW CLIENTS is beyond me. And for what, so you can call me in 45 minutes and tell me all the charges you deemed as necessary when I wasn't there? Convenient. We had just gotten off of our night shifts at the hospital, so the early 8 am appointment was scheduled on purpose to follow our work schedule. Had we known we'd have to drop him off only to pick him back up an hour later, again we would have NEVER scheduled it that way. What made the whole thing entirely more infuriating was the girl we spoke with this morning. She showed no remorse, did not apologize for the inconvenience once, and was ZERO help to our situation. If anything, she was more discouraging than helpful, saying things like "welp you could try a different place but everywhere is pretty booked up for the next month or so". I could not believe the amount in lack of remorse for the situation and not to mention the lack of professionalism. We waited for this appointment for a month. We could have been searching for other places if we were informed of this drop off policy and not have wasted our time. A simple apology for the miscommunication could have made a difference to this situation, but instead silence and discouraging "advice" was the response to us. Honestly, this review was partly due to the miscommunication but mainly due to how the situation was handled. She did not care about anything other than wanting to know if we needed to cancel or not. Didn't even offer a reschedule! We left with no intentions of returning. I can not stress how incredibly infuriating this whole experience was.

This is a terrible place to take any animal. I'm sure that everyone who works here is very capable and the vets are skilled, but anyone that decides to work for a company that overcharges, lies, and does as little as possible for their patients and their owners has a seriously flawed moral compas. They only care about money. They tell you that you aren't going to be charged for something and then they of course charge you. Even the forms you sign are completely shady! They put the total charges UNDERNEATH where you are suppose to sign- which is clearly a tactic to con you into giving them MORE of your money. Today I was told it would be "a little extra" for the dew claw removal of my puppy. The tech pointed at a charge that said $181. I thought, "wow, that's more than I expected, but oh well we can do that." Ha! Turns out that price is for EACH dew claw removed. Sure, I admit that I should have read the fine print. I totally get it, but what really gets me is that the average cost for a dew claw removal is $30-40... so it shouldn't have been anything over 200 for all 4. Instead I'm sitting with a $430 charge for TWO dew claws removed. Oh- and on top of that my puppy has needed some medical attention 3 times this year and each of those times they told me they could not help because they were too busy. If you call yourself a veterinary "hospital" you should probably be able to help at least one of those times. Especially if I'm paying $50 a month to be part of your stupid care club. They honestly should call it their con club, because they don't care for your pet when you are in need and they take your money at any chance they can. They are kind people, but absolutely robbing everyone that walks into their facility. DO NOT GO HERE.

We have all two of our dogs going here. They are so good with the dogs. Recently we had to take one of our other dogs (we have four total) because he was attacked by another dog. The regular vet for this dog simply referred us to the nearest emergency vet clinic. Which was across town. I called Oquirrh Hills and they just asked for me to take our dog there and let him stay for a bit. That their vet would work him in. I love the staff and my kids (furry and two-legged) live the staff and the vets. Thank you so much! Our furry kids and my family is grateful for you all!!!

Do not go here. Way over priced. They spayed one of my dogs and left a bunch of tissue which makes her continue to go into heat every month. I called to let them know and they said, yes we must have missed some tissue. ??? And that's it. Every time we went in they charged us for all sorts of things that we not necessary, just so they could get more money. I called to get my dogs pain medications refilled which clearly state she can still get because there are refills left and it's not expired. They told me that they had to see her because it had been a year... again to charge us. I stayed that I didn't want to come in bc of the covid19 virus and she is an old dog that just needs her medication and they said that she had to come in. This is for an nsaid!! Give me a break! I'll just pay your office fee so I can get pain relief for my old dog! You don't need us to come in so you can do a bunch of stuff I don't want or need so you can charge me! I'm so over this place. Lots of other vet places to go. Should have never kept going there and gone with my first instinct that this place only cares about the money and has terrible care.
