I went on an Adrift Dinosaur 4 day raft trip. I would send my 24 year old daughter with Adrift. When I have lost my fight with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and I am an old lady with an oxygen bottle, I will call Adrift to safely get me down the river. They are that good.

Update: Put my learnings to the test and passed! Was trip lead for the lower San Juan. Very low water conditions (450-500) but was able to navigate the river and lead my crew on the best lines (except for that one sand bar!). We got to Government rapid just as someone got stuck, I was able to use my throw bag to get them a line to pull them off. One of our boats got pinned pretty bad and I was able to setup a pulley system and hauled them off the rock. The group before us stayed and helped with safety, they thought I had swift water rescue training but really it was this class and practicing pulleys in my garage! My group had a great time and said they're ready to follow me on more bigger rivers, thats some good validation right there of what I learned.
This team and their Yampa/Green river trips is !!!!!
I participated in their guide training course and was so impressed with the skill/knowledge/expertise of their trainers and returning guides.
This is top tier rafting at it's finest. You're going to love it. (check the weather and bring layers accordingly)

As a young adult I was uncomfortable with the guides one thought they where a women when they clearly weren’t you couldn’t be in water on a river trip getting wet is sin and I did not know that yelling at kids for nothing was something that was mature professional and kind i genuinely felt uncomfortable and so did my extended family

This raft trip through Dinosaur National Monument is a MUST. This tour is perfect for beginners, it was a mix of category 2 and 3 rapids so it isn’t crazy intense but still so so fun. Our guides Mike and Luna were amazing! Luna was our boat guide and he did a great job of explaining the history of the area and made sure to point out all of the wildlife during the trip. The trip begins with a tour of petroglyphs on the way to the boat launch. It was really neat to begin with learning some of the history of the area. The provided lunch was a vegetarian burrito which was tasty and filling. I will definitely go on another Adrift Dinosaur raft trip the next time I am in the area. I 100% recommend this tour!

I can barely find the words to explain how amazing my recent raft trip with Adrift was! I did RiverWonderGrass with The Fretliners and 7 amazing raft guides last week. 5 days, 4 nights down the Yampa River to the Green River. Every day was an absolute joy, and I never wanted it the trip to end. The guides were professional and friendly, kind and supportive, and clearly had great rapport and respect with one another. The feelings I experienced rafting silently through the running scenery of Echo Canyon the morning of Day 4 will stay with me forever. The last night of the trip we stayed at Jones 3 Campground, which was so beautiful, and near some petroglyphs and pictographs we got to hike and go see. It was incredible seeing those relics in a beautiful parcel of land that few in our modern world have even walked through. And then Fretliners played the best show I've ever seen and the energy we all created for our last hurrah was incandescent. Saying goodbye to everyone at the end of the trip felt like parting ways after a family reunion. We stood in a circle and shared moments and memories full of tears and joy and gratitude. This trip changed me and healed me and, I am so grateful for the experience! - Jenny Lynn

This was such an amazing experience. Adrift Dinosaur is a locally owned company and our guide Tyler really made the tour. By far the best rafting trip we've ever done. We have been listening to Tyler's bluegrass music since we left the river. We learned so much and the views were just epic. I also didn't expect to stop and see petroglyphs and stop at an overlook too. From start to finish, just incredible. If you're on the fence, just book it.

Fantastic rafting day trip with our school age kids. I was nervous to go rafting with a 9 yo but she had a great time and everything felt very safe. Lizzie took great care of us.

On our Yampa expedition I really had the experience of a lifetime. The ways in which the adrift guides showed up really made the trip a lot of fun. While this trip was a class for Western, the trip never really felt like a class despite how much we learned! Not only did I learn a lot, but this trip re-awakened my love for the river and river expeditions. I immediately came home and started kayaking again.
The collaboration between Western Colorado University (WCU) and Adrift has been happening for a long time and is something that has inspired many Western students to become raft guides, in fact, a few of the guides we met and even worked with were WCU grads. Dr. Mark Gibson, a Western professor, has worked with and guided for adrift for over twenty years. We helped the Adrift crew get ready for the season as well as some housekeeping things around the boathouse! They then proceeded to provide us with one of my favorite expeditions and experiences I have ever had the pleasure of being a part of.
Our guides were incredibly friendly and knowledgeable, answering any questions we had about the Yampa canyon. They were friends in camp and strong commanding guides on the river. There was never a point I felt uncomfortable physically or emotionally. We were constantly being taught about all sorts of things that happened in the canyon. On the first day we stopped for lunch to learn about a gentleman named Stubs who’s cabin is a ruin in the canyon, as well as about some of the fossils in this area well. We got to learn about the first people who ran the river on old military rafts and even got to go in a cave that had pictographs and writings from both the natives of the area and the pioneers of the Yampa river valley. I also learned about how the Yampa is one of the last free flowing tributaries to the Colorado river and that the only reason it wasn’t damned was because of the amount of sediment it moves. I was also taught about the permit process for these rivers and learned how difficult it is to acquire one and not only that but the reasoning for it. The big things for me that I had forgotten about and relearned was how comfortable you can be on a river trip like this. It is car camping and then some in a super remote place that a car would never be able to get to.
This trip sparked my fire for the river again. Growing up I was a big kayaker and in the last few years I hadn’t been in a boat. The Yampa reminded me how special the river is and how much is can do for you. When we took off, I dreaded having to pull my phone back out! I learned how easy it is to be 100% authentic on the river. You never have to try, it felt like any walls that anyone might have had up dropped as soon as we hit the water.
These field based classes that we have at WCU are special classes. They are a place where students can learn, practice and reinforce both technical and interpersonal skills. They are structured in a way that the experience is what you learn from the most. They are highlights if my college career and this Yampa trip was the by far the best experience I had at Western Colorado University.
Whether you are a Western student or just someone looking for an incredible experience this is it. The guides at Adrift are top tier and provide a world class experience. The Yampa River canyon is a special place and having the Adrift crew just made even more special.

Adrift is a great river guide service. Bella was our river guide. She was outgoing and knowledgeable. I hope to bring the family next time.
