For one star, they would've had to give at least a half-hearted attempt at customer service.My 75-year-old mom ordered glasses two months ago. On the day she placed her order, the staff member fitted her for single vision lenses, even though her prescription was for progressive lenses, so we had to go back, on that same day, to correct the order.It has been two months ago as of today, and she still does not have glasses. They said their supplier is back ordered for progressive lens material and that there are orders backdated four months.If you can't serve your customers, get a new supplier. Tell your customers that there's a back order problem. But don't take people's money, with no warning, and string them out for months!Worst service ever, and we will never ever return to Standard Optical. They've become a joke.

I have never left a review before in my life, good or bad. I feel compelled to inform the public of the following: I went shopping with a brand new pair of glasses on and the nose piece was hurting. I stopped into Standard Optical where Shanda McMains, store manager, said they would be happy to switch plastic nose pads out for silicone ones. I watched her and noticed she scratched the lens with the metal tools she used. I pointed it out to her letting her know they were brand new, very expensive, trifocal lenses. Shanda would not acknowledge what happened or even apologize. She advised me to lie to the place I got them from and say they gave me the glasses with the scratch on it and see if they would replace them. Enter at your own risk knowing the lack of integrity from, none other than, the store manager.

Ridiculous waiting period for a pair of glasses to come in. Why does it take more than a month to get them when other places can do it in 2 weeks? Don't waste your time and money here, they won't fulfill their end of the deal.

Rushed through the exam and incorrectly assessed my vision. Gave us a price and then doubled it at checkout, then we received a bill for 40% more than that. Terrible selection of frames. Paid way too much for glasses that are super blurry. I can't stress enough to stay away from here. Even if your insurance supposedly covers it, it doesn't, you'll get triple charged. Go anywhere else.

Cristial and Shanda at the Layton location were the BEST! Such a breath of fresh air to be told the truth WHILE having amazing customer service. They went above and beyond to save my husband and I money. We will definitely be back!

Since I can not give them negative stars I will have to settle for one. They have had my sunglasses for a simple repair for months. I have repeatedly received fabricated updates. They have never called me back despite numerous problems and now I have gone all summer without sunglasses because Standard Optical failed to do its job. I may never go there again and based on this experience I would suggest that no one else go their either.

I had a great experience setting up an appointment. I spoke to Crystal over the phone and couldn't believe how helpful she was! I made a wrong appointment and called to change it and be placed on a cancelation list to see if I could get an earlier appointment and Crystal was more than happy to accommodate me. I told her I was going to call around to other Standard Opitcals to see if there were any earlier appointments available and Crystal had amazing customer service and said she could look up other locations to see if they had anything available. She found an appointment, called that location, got the ok to schedule me and proceeded to make my appointment for me with the other location! AMAZING! Thank you so much for hiring such an awesome employee who understands what great customer service is!!

I went into the Layton location in mid-May. I ordered contacts and glasses. After paying almost $700 for one pair of off brand glasses (they didn’t have very many choices) and contacts, they told me it would 6-12 weeks for me to get them. Didn’t warn me so I could go somewhere else, just billed me and then told me. It’s now almost the end of July and I still don’t have them. Go somewhere else. It’ll be cheaper and you’ll actually get your glasses and/or contacts. I’m hoping I’ll see them in the next year or so, by the time a new exam is due. Terrible experience.

I used to love coming to this one bringing my kids here but something has changed with this one I ordered a pair if glasses and I've been waiting 3 months fir them to arrive called the other day the woman I spoke with was very rude and seemed to not care when she said it would be another 4 weeks then I said so if my eyesight has changed ur going to charge me for another exam the lady said yes why is ut my fault these people can't seem to get it together it's all the labs fault not there's at the office so then I asked what if I need different lenses and she said I would have to pay for new ones after spending almost 400 for the ones im still waiting for........ ridiculous

If I could I would rate this location a 0 I would.Here's why - almost a year ago I ordered contacts for my wife. They said it would originally take 2 months and gave us some samples. After 3 months we checked in because we didn't receive the contacts. They said there was a delay and it'd be a few more weeks. Long story short they gave us that excuse repeatedly and never delivered the contacts.We talked with multiple employees trying to get the product that had been paid for and they even said a regional manager would contact us. None of that ever happened.After about 6 months we went to a different provider to get contacts. It took 6 days to get the exact same contacts. 6 DAYS!!We went back to this location and told them that. They said they'd have a regional manager call us and they could offer a refund. Regional manager never called. Refund is useless because our insurance was charged and we've been waiting so long that a new plan year had already started.No one was helpful and they basically stole our money for something that they never delivered.

Went in with a prescription for new glasses and the staff was very nice and helpful. Reason for 2 stars is because we ordered my son's glasses and we added on the blue light blocking to them and was told it would be about a week. I ended up cancelling the order and going elsewhere because we were going on 5 weeks of still not receiving the glasses and we were really in need of them, also I was the one that would have to call and ask for updates because they were not informing me of what was going on. I was told they were just taking a while from the factory.

I ordered contacts for 3 family members back in December and still have not gotten them! Every month they tell me they will be in and still nothing! I am the one that has to go in and ask for more trial contacts and now they don’t even have those. Very poor customer service and no real answers on what they can do or solutions.

You should make sure you know the cost up front. Despite filling out insurance information beforehand and believing it to be acceptable, I was informed at the conclusion of my appointment that they needed more information or I could just pay the ~$250 for the exam and deal with insurance myself. There was also a bonus charge for a contact 'fitting'... which just felt like one of those tacked on fees at the end. I just would have appreciated if the cost had been more up-front

I have been going to Standard Examiner for a while now but this will probably be my last. Dr Purdy is fine no complaints for him but my appointment was in September and I am yet to get my contacts from them. I paid for a full year of contacts in September and now it’s May, 9 MONTHS later and I still haven’t gotten them. They keep saying they have no idea when they will get them in. I would order some from a different company but I paid more than 200$ for a year of contacts from them. They haven’t contacted me with updates or refunded my money.
