Hard Pass on Fremont RV – Look Elsewhere
Fremont RV seemed promising at first—the owner was friendly when we arrived—but it quickly became clear that he takes pride in being cheap and neglectful.
We had two major issues and one minor, but all of them added up to a frustrating experience.
1. The 7-Minute Shower Timer
The showers are set on a strict 7-minute timer. By the time the water warms up, you’re left with just over 6 minutes to actually shower. This isn’t a military base or a truck stop—it’s a campground near Capitol Reef, where you expect to clean off after a long day outdoors. My wife couldn’t even finish washing her hair in time, and to make things worse, there’s a 5-minute wait before you can restart the water. It left us both frustrated—especially her. And as we all know, happy wife, happy life.
2. The Ant Invasion
While showering, you’ll have to battle ants—yes, actual ants crawling in the shower and on the bench where you’re supposed to set your clean clothes. I had ants all over my clothes after showering. I sent a video and text to the owner about it, but never got a response. Completely unacceptable, especially when basic cleanliness is expected. This isn’t backcountry camping—we shouldn’t need bug spray to use a bathroom.
3. Gravel Parking Lot
Not a dealbreaker on its own, but it adds to the overall “cheap and neglected” feel. Combined with the other issues, it just reinforces that the owner cuts corners wherever possible.
Final Thoughts
There are better places to stay near Capitol Reef. Look for a campground with a host who’s actually reachable, bathrooms that respect your time and comfort, and an owner who takes pride in maintaining a clean and welcoming space. At the very least—call an exterminator and ditch the shower timer. Your guests deserve better.
I appreciate your response. I was not able to post the video of the ants on Google, but I did post it on yelp. I don’t think you can post videos on google only pictures. I talked to the cleaner who informed me she was the owner and she told me it’s been an ongoing problem. She said the first thing she does is look for them to clean up when arriving. Yuck! Please be honest and straightforward. I also remember a camera being out front where we had the conversation about the ants and I’m sure if you’re being fully honest, you could go back and watch it again. The truth shall set you free.

This location was great. We spent one night here and it was a great spot to recharge our electric vehicle and hit the road the next morning. The picnic tables were nice as well. The owner was very nice and helpful. Bathrooms were clean.

It was a pleasure to stay here they have full hookups whole year long
We stayed warm in February in the rv and saw all the beautiful parks and nature and came back to a warm rv thanks to these people who are one of the very few to stay open off season
We will be coming again in the future

Stayed for two nights on a tent site with electricity. Easy to get the tent stakes into the gravel we were a little nervous before we got there. Showers were nice and hot and clean only problem was they have a 7 minute timer and have to wait 5 minutes to use the water again. As a woman it was not enough time to wash my hair, body and shave my legs. So I had to break up washing my hair and shaving my legs between the nights. I understand we are in the desert but watching all the water watering the fields I think having at least 9 minutes would be best. Even my husband was running out of time with his showers. Overall very nice and easy drive into Capitol reef for hikes.

We stayed here for three nights the end of April. It is a nice, clean park. All gravel and no trees but it was fine for our needs. Easy to get out 42' RV pulling a car in the pull-through. My husband used the showers and said they were fine. There is a seven minute timer and then the water turns off, but he said that wasn't a problem. If we were ever in Loa again I would stay here again for sure.

Great place, friendly and helpful owners, and good value for the money. One issue, though: The showers are timed (7 minutes of water, 5 minute cooldown). Most people who go to campsites are adults and don't need that kind of enforcement. You don't see this at other sites. Could be a local law, though.

Fantastic full-service RV Park, highly recommend. Similar to other reviews, we were looking for an RV Park during a winter tour of the Big 5. Everything near Capitol Reef was closed, but Fremont was open and very accommodating. They have electric and water (though in the winter you can't leave the hose hooked up overnight which was totally fine). Bathrooms and showers were incredibly clean and warm, perfect for a pick me up after winter adventuring. They also have laundry facilities which were clean, easy to use ($2/wash, $2/dry, with soap for sale as well). Propane and fuel are also just down the road.Highly recommend staying here. Gary was responsive and happy to help. We had everything we needed, even waking up to a beautiful snowstorm ?

Last-minute find as we were on a winter Mighty Five trip and needed a site with electric for the night. The showers and bathrooms were immaculately clean, site was level and both people were dealt with (one on the phone, one at check-in) were SO friendly and helpful, with tons of good suggestions about things to do in the area and so accommodating.

Appeared to be nice bathrooms and separate shower rooms even though we didn't use. We did use the very nice laundry room and price of 2.00 per fair, good machines...3 washers and 3 dryers. 1/2 hour drive to Capitol Reef. Park fairly new, all full hookups. No trees, just gravel. Less expensive than Rv parks nearer Capitol Reef. Small grocery walking distance away. Never saw anyone in the office as it appears the owner must live close by, he just comes by as needed by customers.
