If I could rate this place zero stars, I would. The employee working that day was clearly racially profiling my sisters and me. The three of us, all Mexican women, came in to shop and were minding our own business when this employee—a white woman—kept staring at us the entire time. She eventually approached my sister and said something along the lines of, “If you’re talking about the security cameras, they’re on.” We were not talking about anything related to that. I responded that it was fine that the security cameras were on, as they should be in any store. Still, the interaction was extremely uncomfortable and unnecessary. This happened on Sunday, December 28, around 11:45 a.m. I have shopped at Five Below many times and have never felt so uncomfortable in my life. We were simply shopping, laughing, and enjoying ourselves as sisters do. There was absolutely no reason for us to be singled out or treated with suspicion. Her behavior was inappropriate, disrespectful, and offensive. If she is not security, she should not be approaching customers in that manner. I truly hope this is not the kind of behavior Five Below is willing to tolerate, because I can’t imagine how many people of color may have had similar experiences in that store. We are extremely disappointed. Do better.

It's a lot more expensive than it used to be. They should change the name.

⭐ One Star – Lord of the Walkie-Talkies
So I walked into Five Below after yoga — still in zen mode, mind you — just wanting to browse some $5 phone holders and knockoff candy. Next thing I know, I’m in the middle of what felt like a live-action roleplay of Spy Kids 4: Retail Edition.
First red flag: I see a literal child working there. I’m talking 12 years old, tops. I casually mention that he looks young (because he did!), not trying to start anything — just confused why someone who probably still orders off the kids’ menu is running the floor. Apparently, that was the triggering event of the century.
This tiny employee runs to his fellow tween — I guess the “manager” — who might’ve been all of 17, rocking that badge like he was regional director of the toy aisle. They whip out their walkie-talkies like it’s DEFCON 1, dramatically whispering and pinging each other across the store like they were on a Fortnite mission.
Then, boom: I’m being asked to leave. I ask why, and the boy just gives me that “I don’t want problems” speech, while actively creating problems. Kid even lied right to the manager’s face, and they both looked like they were about to run to the principal’s office crying.
Apparently, Five Below is hiring straight from recess now. I wouldn’t be surprised if their breakroom had juice boxes and naptime.
Oh, and just when I thought it couldn’t get weirder, someone actually made up a story that I was talking on the phone about “getting a gun.” WHAT?! I wasn’t even on the phone! I don’t own a gun, and I don’t even threaten spiders — I just scoop them into a cup and wish them luck.
I ended up calling the cops just to get some clarity, and the officer was like, “Yeah, businesses can ask you to leave for any reason.” So basically, if a toddler with a nametag doesn’t like your vibe, you’re out.
Five Below? More like Five Years Old & Below. Won’t be back. I came in for cheap earbuds and left feeling like I got jumped by the cast of Stranger Things.
